Do Not Use Dialaphone!

Hi
I've used Dialaphone a number of times and without a problem.
My latest phone developed a fault and I sent it to the Mobile Phone Repair Company who sent it to the manufacturer as it was 'beyone economical repair - phys'. For the privelege they sent me what seems to be a bill for £5.88. The phone does not work, is less than 12 months old and O2 continue to bill me £25 per month for an account I cannot use.
Contacting dialaphone is abysmal. I try not to use 0870 numbers so I rang their sales people who gave me an email address cs@dialaphone.com. My email bounced. I tried the 0870 cs number and after 5 minutes my call was disconnected.
I shall now contact O2 to cancel the contract.
I will never use dialaphone again - be warned.

Thankyou for sharing your experience. Will you update us with what happens with O2. Good luck.0

Did they say what was wrong with it? If the fault was cause be yourself (maybe water damage/dropped)then im guessing thats why they charged you for looking at it and you would be liable for the rest of the contract as its the airtime contract you took out and the phone was just a gift from the network. But if the fault was not caused by you and its a component or 2 then the phone should be replaced as it would come with a 12 warrenty. The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

The phone worked at night but didn't work the following morning. No water damage.
It is insured (but I am not claiming) and I'm still paying the premium on that as well! D'oh.
I shall ring the 0870 number tonight after work and give them a week to supply a replacement.

how long have you had the phone? If you have had it for several months, its got nothing to do with Dial a phone. You will need to contact manufacturer directly.
If its less than 30 days old, dial a phone should be able to exchange it.
If you have insurance, you should use it. Thats what its for.0 -
I finished work early today to resolve the problem.
I dialled the 0870 number again. This time I was advised that I could contact them by email at cc@dialaphone.com. So, rather than press buttons and pay for another 0870 call, I emailed them. Automated response said "Thank you for your email. Please note this is an automated service and as such you will not receive a specific email in response to your enquiry."
Aaaarghh!
So I phoned the 0870 number yet again. A lady called Tsi advised me to claim from the insurers and very kindly gave me the insurers 0870 number. I repeatedly pointed out that the phone was faulty. I have not dropped it or wet it. It was working fine and failed sometime overnight. However, I eventually gave in and rang the insurers. They, unsurprisingly, said that if the phone has failed it is a problem for the manufacturer and not an insurance claim.
So, I rang Dialaphone yet again. This time, Bolam answered. He said that when the MPRC advise that the phone is beyond economical repair it means that it has suffered liquid damage. The letter from MPRC does not mention liquid. I do not have a claim against the insurance policy. Bolam offered to ring MPRC to find out why it was beyond economical repair and will get back to me. No doubt they will say it was damaged by me - but it was not.
I feel my only course of action isd to cancel my direct debit to O2. I know it's not their fault but at the moment I have a contract that I cannot use through no fault of my own. Mrs GG is giving me grief because of potential debt collection.bailiffs etc but I am being taken for a mug by dialaphone. It was dialaphone who provided the phone in Dec 05 and it is dialaphone who need to replace the faulty handset. Not the insurers and not Nokia.
Am I wrong?

After posting the above, I felt it only fair to contact O2. Went to their website but couldn't find a customer service email address so phoned their 0870 number. Queued for 12 minutes before giving up.
Anybody got an email address for O2?
I have now spent 2 hours tonight chasing this phone. Life is short and I do not intend to spend much moe time on this case. I think a few letters are my next option.
Really steamed up at the moment.
Thanks

I think you really need to establish what is wrong with the phone and take it from there ie if they are saying its water damage then you will have to claim via the insurance as you cannot cancel your d.d without risking your credit report. Another thing is what make of phone is it you have and have you looked up ie nokia service center or sony and see if there is somewhere else you can send it to or sometimes it can be taken into a carphone warehouse shop with you initial reciept proving its under 12 months and get a second opinion on the phone.
PS I think if you strip the back off the phone and take the battery out there is indication of water damage by sections turning pink, so its maybe worth having a look just incase a drop or 2 or rain has maybe gotten into it.The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
what make is your phone? i think you should phone the company who make you phone rather than anybody else. i'm sure you can find the number on the warrantary booklet. good luck.0

Hi
It's a Nokia 6230i. After sending it to MPRC as requsted, I have not seen it. MPRC advised it was sent to the manufacturer and guess what, another 0870 (well 0871) number to phone MPRC.
If a couple of drops of rain can write it off, it's a faulty design as far I am concerned. However, I do not recall it ever getting wet. I will not make a fraudulent insurancve claim.
If the dialaphone customer services had an office, I'd have punched someone by now - and I'm not a violent person!

Why not try posting the problem in this website/forum they are very helpfull and specialise in mobiles there is even a section dedicated to nokia but if you post in the mobile matters you should hopefully be advised the best way forward as writing your phone off without proper explanation and not returning it is wrong.
Good Luck.The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0
