not happy with tax credits!!!

bit of a rant here really. i sent back my claim form a week ago and have just rang to check if they have received it. they told me as of yet it isnt showing as received and it can take 3 weeks to even make it to showing as received. they also cant say how long after this it will take to process and start paying again.
so now i have already gone 3 weeks without payments and looking at a further 2 just til it shows as received so who knows how long til i start getting payments again.
i appreciate that its a busy time but this is just a joke. how is anybody supposed to keep themselves afloat when you're losing out on, in my case, potentially half of your income. i know they backdate it but thats not much use to me now.
has anyone else recently had a claim started up and how long did it take?
also does anyone know if writing to mps etc.. has any affect on them whatsoever?

it must be frustrating but you dont know ur born!
when I had my kids you either worked to support them or you got a very basic amount of 'supplementary benefit'
think yourself lucky that you get as much help as you do!

Really really helpful. And patronising. OP is clearly struggling, and this is not the time or place for "you don't know you're born" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

ok, just so you know. i am not a single parent on benefits, i have a partner who works. a very basic job on minimum wage. he hates it but does it to support his family. believe me i would love nothing more than to go to work myself but i have a special needs 4 year old and a 2 year old child. people like you really really annoy me. who are you to judge me and my life and my circumstances. so if you have nothing to say that isnt patronising or offensive then please dont bother saying anything at all

so you assume my life is straight forward and easy?
you should never become dependant on tax credits as they can be withdrawn at any time!

i sympathis with you having a child with special needs, but people in general need to learn to live within their means. if youre on a low income why did you have another child?

oh yes, the taxpayer will help!

    !

This implies that you think that tax credits are an added luxury, and in fact not really "needed" by a family, if they are not to be relied on...........

Same could be said for anything, salary (could be made redundant) partner's income (could split up)

Go over to DT if you want this conversation, NOT the benefits board.

i fell pregnant with my second child when i was working full time and before my sons special needs were discovered. i had to leave that job because my partner at the time had a stroke, followed by several collapses/fits. or was i supposed to leave my less than 2 year old son, at the time, in the care of his father, when i wasnt sure if i would come home to find him conscious, unconscious or dead.
SO AGAIN. PLEASE TELL ME WHO THE HELL YOU THINK YOU ARE TO JUDGE ME

Don't bother trying to argue with her...........waste of energy! Rude woman.

Debt Free wannabe and Old Style might help you get through the next few weeks until it is sorted.

You might be lucky, and it might zoom through :D

my 4 year old grandson died 6 weeks ago, we dont know exactly why yet.
he got ill at 18 months with encephalitis (swelling of the brain)
it left him brain damaged and epileptic. he couldnt walk/talk/sit. initially he was tibe fed but againnst medical advice his parents gradually introduced 'real' food and in the last 2 years he was eating enough to sustain himself without help.

they also have a boy who is 5.
they both worked, my daughter full time and my son in law 25 hours a week.
if you wanted to work you would be able to find a way to manage it
as i said i do sympathise, but coming onto a forum and whinging is an insult to other people that dont use their circumstances to explain why they dont do more to help themselves.
