from what you have said i really think he does qualfy, you would need as much everdance sent in with his claim as possible and it could make a big difference to your family money wise if this was to be accepted , if you want to no more ask x
ok, just had a quick scan through that link. the things we know for definate at the moment are the selective mutism. this is a anxiety/phobia type condition. he talks at home although this isn't up to a level of a nearly 5 year old. he doesn't talk to strangers, ever. and has only just started whispering the occasional word to his key worker at his special needs nursery, he has known her for 18 months now.
he gets very anxious and clingy when out and about, especially in busy places. road sense is impossible to teach him. he doesnt take much in when he is out, although we try teaching him every time we go out, about roads and cars he is still more than happy to try and walk/run in front of a vehicle, thinking it is safe to do so.
at home he takes up 90% of my time, which isnt really fair on his 2 year old sister. he is very demanding and lacks the independence and imagination kids his age should have. in fact i think his sister is more advanced in a lot of areas, including speech.
he had a hearing test a couple of months ago, which he wouldnt co operate for due to his SM. he has now been referred for a special paediatric hearing test, rather than the standard school age test. he was too nervous, and wouldnt communicate, even to me, when he heard the beep.
i never thought to apply for dla because i thought he needed to have autism diagnosed. although this has been mentioned to me a few times and he will be re assessed once he starts reception in september.0 -

dla doesnt go on diagnose but the care and moblity needs, the running in front of cars is a massive thing and i dont no other needs he may have possibley still in nappys which a averge 5 year old wouldnt nesaseraly have , i only know basics really with adult dla and a little i have learned reading posts on here, i would ring for a form today money is backdated from day you apply if you dont fill it in then fine but you have nothing to lose, you could post on the disablity board and see what they say about child dla they will know more than me , but finacally could make a big difference even if its spending more time with you youngest or more activitys like swiming to keep him busy or more help odd days even so you can have a hour to yourself0
