Hi guy's,
Thanks for all your comments and suggestions, I will take them all on board.
I am away for a few day's so please forgive me for not replying (no computer)
Closed, the computer is noisy, is running hotter these days which kinda scares me  maybe you are right, I should get some one to look at it and tell me it just needs x y z and proper spring clean
I'm not sure how long these machine's are supposed to live, apart from the above it runs fairly well, I'm just afraid if it suddenly dies I will be totally lost, it is a life line for me.

I'd backup everything important as suggested earlier.
Then look at closed's guide: HOW TO SPEED UP A SLOW PC OR INFECTED PC. (a mini guide) - MoneySavingExpert.com Forum

But still doesn't change my wish to buy a second hand possibly broken product.
No one suggested that you should buy a 'possibly broken product'.
Since that 'possibly broken product' could just as well be the product for which you will pay the 'new' price, you would have no extra protection against a faulty product. New or 'refurbished'.
An example; If you buy a new laptop from Comet and after a couple of weeks find you have a dead pixel or two, you might find that they are not interested in helping you. Alternatively, if you buy the same laptop(at a discount of £100) from Argos Clearance and have exactly the same problem, they will exchange it immediately or give you a refund.
I would feel far more confident in purchasing from Argos Clearance then I would purchasing new from the likes of Dixons or Comet.
Do you know the turnaround time of a repair of a new product from Dixons/PCWorld/Comet etc? With whom are you more likely to be left without a laptop for longer?
Turnaround times for Argos Clearance? They certainly won't leave you without a laptop for up to 28 days.
There was no 'negative' for you to misunderstand. Perhaps you are just a bit..... slow. Keep taking the tablets and paying over the odds.

Well to be honest I buy my computers and most electronics abroad at a country where customer services can be relied upon!

So need for Currys, Dixons, Argos etcetera for most things.0 -
Hi Guys, I'm back!
I have decided to get a techie to have a look at my computer and get a quote to do/change whatever needs to be. I will weigh up the cost against a 'new' computer and then decide which will be most cost effective.
Grandmaster, I would be interested in which country you buy your computers, is it cheaper, how does import duty effect the price etc?
Many thanks
