mine burnt it's own clutch out just out of warranty
(it's an automatic...so not my fault, i think)
It could quite easily be your fault, but this very much depends how you drove the car.
The system is no different to a manual except electronics control the clutch pedal rather than your left foot.
If you don't use the handbrake on inclines and hold the car by applying power you will burn the clutch out, just as you would by treating a manual car in a similar fashion and using gas and clutch pedal to stop it rolling back.0 -
hi ya andy, i love the drive but not the fuel consumption lol (and im not a boy racer). It seems to drink petrol, but then i think i was spoilt with my last grande punto diesel where a tank would last over a month lol.
Its a nice ride though.
We normally get about 340-350 miles from a tankful (that's about 48 mpg) doing short local journeys but I have had 400 when I did one long journey in it.0 -
well the honda jazz came out the winner, and will be delivered to mum by the end of the month.
they came out with a price £108 higher than drive the deal and mum was happy to pay that little bit more for buying locally.
she went for the 1.4 ES 5 door model in old persons silver lol
thanks for all the advice and help, will let you know how she gets on driving it xxx0 -
This test by AutoExpress might help -

It compares the two. It reckons the Jazz is better.0 -
well we have had the car a couple of weeks now, and i have to say its great. it would encourage to me to look at the jazz when we come to change our current mazda.
the semi-auto on it is very very smooth, on a par with the hyundai full auto and it is just a very practical car all round. fuel economy is amazing we are averaging 48 mpg round town. Havent taken it long distance yet so cant comment on the mpg on motorways.
I would recommend this car at the moment, but would like to see what customer service etc.. is like first over the first year ie. service and prob etc...0 -
Jazz is the better option for sure

I had the old Jazz with the CVT auto. I then test drove the i-shift and hated it. To me it felt like a learner driver was changing gears for me and I would hold my breath on a hill to see if the gears caught before the car rolled back! Next year the Jazz auto is reverting to the CVT and dumping the i-shift, so I can't be the only one that thinks like this.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. i think the fabia might be a bit big for my mum. I can see the vat free discount but only when taking finance. this will be a cash sale.
The 0% vat offer is on finance (and for cars in stock)
The 5% vat offer is open to finance/cash (and can be for cars built to spec)
Can see you've bought a car now though
