washing new baby clothes

Another one here who doesn't wash new baby clothes before baby wears them
. My babies had mostly just vests and sleepsuits new, which come wrapped in plastic so nobody has been handling them in the shop at least. Outfits (not many as they always seemed moe comfy in a sleepsuit!) were mostly 2nd hand so they did get a wash.
The only new things I wash before use are towels and bedding, as the towels are all soft and non-absorbent, and the bedding is distinctly cardboardy, as neneromanova said. To my knowledge none of my family has become ill or allergic as a result. I don't see the need to add to my washing/ironing mountain!0
