Hey guys~! Hope you're all doing well. Been stalking the thread for a while and I'm not in my second campaign.
I found it a little disheartening after I 'made' £280 in my last campaign but only got the 2nd tier of reward because I'd actually only sold £213 worth of goods. I can't remember if my SL mentioned that though, I was in such a hurry to get going!
Really, that's been my only problem. I think I've been one of the lucky ones. Apparently the area has had a lot of reps in the past, people say they've placed order and seen nothing from the rep again! So I think I've been met with a little skepticism, but I'm sticking around so it shouldn't be so bad in the long run.
I've found the hints and tips on the Forums to really pay off, and treated my paying customers to a hot chocolate this time round!0 -

Thank you! And yes it is very quickly coming around - i really ought to start organising things. We have the venue booked and deposit paid so now we just need to save up for the rest - hence avon-ing and ebay-ing and carboot sale-ing (future hubby has even been helping me to deliver avon books?!). it'll come together! how about you? have you started planning yet?DFBX2016 #160 - £3550/£8800

yes, try that with the lady at Somerfield, but rather than offering her cash, maybe say she can have something free from the brochure? May be limit that to £5 spend, as you won't spend that much.
I give customers bottom copy as top has signature.
Yes, you can order from HT17 with C 15 and C16. It is clearance stuff that you cannot back order, and sometimes this is out of stock.
Thank you, you're a star.
Second (and hopefully final?) instalment of the territory saga...
so i went to canvass my new road yesterday and halfway up the road discovered an avon book waiting outside on someones doorstep... (it was c17 too?! which i thought was a bit early?) anyhoo firstly i was a bit peeved that this is the third road where a rep is already present, so i had a sneaky peek inside and there was an order... and a tel. number for the rep. i took a note of the number, delivered the rest of the road and when i got home gave this lady a call.
I explained what had happened - that SL had given me 189 houses on 10 roads and it appeared that half of them were already covered by a rep - and the lady said that she has been doing avon for 18 months in the area. another rep started about a year ago but gave up rather swiftly, and when she left she gave this lady her customers (hence the reason she has a wide territory).
So she told me the roads she covers - which are only 3 of mine - she said that she has set customers now on her roads and rarely delivers to the other houses so if i wanted to i could canvass her roads. however i told her that i would steer clear of them in future in return for the road i live on (which she only canvasses half of) and she said that was fine. which is good for me because 4 of my last orders were from my road so she clearly wasn't canvassing often. :rotfl:
Territory saga resolved!! :T
or is it..... we'll see.
In the meantime i will speak to my SL about other roads.
weather is a bit rubbish - i had to put the heating on for the first time yesterday! not long til the dark morning and evenings.:cool:DFBX2016 #160 - £3550/£8800

So .... I've been reading this thread for ages and have finally decided to take the plunge and go for it, meeting a sales leader tomorrow to sign up just one quick question if anyone can answer please?
When you get territory how many houses do you get roughly? My street only has around 100 and I want more than that, if that's not too greedy!0 -
I thought ASM's were 'salaried' by AVON? Pretty certain mine is.
I don't think it benefits anyone to have a large turnover of reps though, because for one thing it doesn't inspire confidence if people place orders and the rep is so disheartened that she packs in. That means there are potential AVON customers all over the place who are not being serviced properly. How to get to them is the big question.
I would suggest they adopt a 'grading' system whereby they take a workable snapshot of the areas every three months - asking the more established and successful reps where their customers are from. For example the road, I have walked my legs off on has two other reps present - because I have asked the question of the ASM and one of the reps as to which houses they consider to be their customers, I have a better idea. Basically in terms of territory, I would consider it a no go area. I have picked up two customers from there, which I intend to keep - but my ASM has now dis allocated the road to me. That means then that this road should be given a low grade to a prospective rep - rather than just declaring it unallocated.
I think that if it continues in this way, the AVON brand will eventually become damaged. It is clearly not being nurtured and brought into the 21st century. Over to Brand Management.....and some common sense.0 -
From what I've read on Connects it seems okay - advertising is just another way of asking people if they'd like to see a brochure. My advertising has been some free listings online and I'm about to put some A4 posters up around the village in the newsagents and I'll try the community centre - anywhere free, basically. I saw a few other reps on the free sites I signed up to. Facebook could also be considered advertising and that can be viewed by people outside your territory.
I've just been careful with my wording so if another rep sees a poster they'll see I'm not trying to take existing customers. If a rep hasn't re-canvassed in a while it's not my fault if a customer is unaware a rep serves their street and decides to contact me.
By area do you mean your territory or the much bigger area covered by your ASM?
Please someone jump in and correct me if what I've said about advertising is a load of a**e! I don't want to say something's okay then get someone into trouble.
joyfull - yep, as soon as I heard that ASMs get commission for each rep signed I realised it was in their interest to have quantity over quality. Do the reps need to hit MOV or submit an order (any value) for ASMs to make their commission or do they get it for the sign-up alone?
I've been very cynical about the need to buy lots of demos and samples (encouraged in HT and by some people on Connects). I know if you're doing parties full-size items are great, but I can't imagine lugging demos around with me on rounds. I've taken a couple of perfume and lipstick samples for myself and wear them when Avon-ing. I'm also going to get the infinity symbol necklace and a few other things I need this campaign, but I'll pretty much only be buying things I like and would use anyway so I can still get to know Avon products and give genuine recommendations without spending unnecessarily. Still no sale from a sample yet!
The area my mag covers is both inside and outside of the ASM's area. I am confident I will get some positive leads from it though. Just as well because 'repping' from scratch is like working in the dark and wearing a blindfold.0 -

I know, I can't believe how quick it's coming around either! Less than 8 months for us! We've done the same as you - booked the venue and paid a deposit. I am trying to lose a bit of weight before buying a dress, so think that'll be January. Determined not to get stressed about it, as I did start to and then decided to enjoy it instead!
Let's hope Avon brings us some nice extra cash for the weddings of our dreams!0 -
Just having a look at this Avon Connects thing and dont really know what to do with it... I have no friends on there obviously, dont know what videos etc to add and not really sure what the point of it is?

I got about 80 when I started, which took me nearly all of my first campaign (about 4 weeks) to get through even though I only left books with people for about 4 days. I asked for some more territory just before my second campaign. My first campaign was longer than the usual 3 weeks because I started 5 days before order deadline, so I was allowed to start on the next one.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.
