Right, have told Avon and my SL, I no longer want to be an SL. Decluttering my house as we speak. :) Still going to be an Avon Rep at least until the end of the year, and see what happens.

Glad you decided A - I won't be trying to convince you to stay as I know you've been thinking about it for a while - stay as a Rep, even if its only to order your own stuff from HT, you'll still be getting it cheaper that way! Thats what I'll be doing if I ever finish avon.

Well the carboot thing this morning wasn't great - knew it would be v quiet, but gave me & asm to have a chat - no other SL turned up so she's given me one ladies details, and there was another (outside of our area as it turns out so wouldn't be any use to her anyway) who wants to join when she gets back from holiday - so all in all a good! Can't wait to go to the shopping centre stall the asm has sorted, put myself down for 2 hours on each day, so hopefully they will go well too, think I'll get some samples for giving away, asm brought some today and it was a good way to approach people by giving them free samples.

Yes C&C places do carrier bags - I joined Cost Co (as a rep you can join, just need to show a utility bill, avon invoice, and a letter head - we made that on the computer ourselves lol), and noticed they did plain white carrier bags so will get the next lot from there. Last time we got them online I think we used carrierbagshop.co.uk. With postage its only really worth buying in the very large quantities, if you only buy the smaller amount it probably works out cheaper to just get the avon ones - or as A says (and I always tell my reps to do) use supermarket bags, keeps costs down.

I have the possibility of having an avon stall at a pamper night being held locally, will donate a bag of goodies as a raffle prize.
So here starts my question and any advice would be greatly appreciated. What should I order to have on show and for people to buy? How much should I buy?(don't want to be left with loads of stuff), Can we get any Avon posters anywhere?
Has anybody else had any experience doing this? Any help and ideas would be great.

Other good news, got an order for £67 in my territory today, thought I was gonig to collapse!!!!!

Lozza, you might be able to help smattie, here, because you do carboots and know what sells well.

Yes thanks A, I'd missed that post somehow lol!

I'd say have a variety of products out - some of the more expensive products (perfumes, anew serums etc) for people to try, they'll be surprised by the quality and could well order them in future, as well as just some cheaper, everyday, items - handcreams, nail varnish - again people can try and could order. Then have some stuff for buying on the night - I'd say stick to fairly cheap items (shower gels, maybe some make-up - nail varnish perhaps, perfume at £4, some of the cheaper jewellery), if you have any stock in you can take that to sell. Samples and brochures about and of course order forms & pens, and business cards or something similar with your details on, then people can pass it to people they know who would like to order.

At the carboot thing we did this morning - while we had nothing to sell (it was to try and get new reps), the asm was doing a free prize draw as a way of attracting peoples attention, samples to give away free, and plenty of products out on display for people to try. While I was bored when it was quiet - I tried the new herve leger perfume (smells lovely, and very long lasting) and some of the anew 60+ serum, which I was surprised by. These were expensive items that I would never buy for myself - but I was very surprised and tempted to try the 30+ anew serum now - so having some pricer items out can work to tempt people - I've been a rep for over a year and a half and would never have thought to spend that much on a serum before, but I might do now when its on offer!

Yes interesting, people like the word free and competition and prize draw....lol

When I did a swoop with my ASM, she had all these sample lipsticks to give out to people to attract their attention. I had one lady saying she didn't like the colours and did I have this and that... and I said no, I had given all the other colours away and this was all I had left...lol. They were tiny samples!

Just about managed to catch up (or so I thought) - sorry to hear about your decision, A, and got to admit am puzzled. If you're already a SL i.e. paid for the privilege, what's the advantage of returning to be a rep? Means you'll pay more for your books for a start. Know recruiting takes time but there's no obligation to do it if you don't want to.... I must be missing something.....

Sorry, no wish to be nosy, just can't see any advantage; good luck with your decision though.

Last time I went swooping was with free samples of Lotus Shield. Was absolutely gobsmacked at how many people turned them down...

On the other hand, did a Job Fayre recently and people were champing at the bit for the lipstick samples - apparently some people love them because they're handier to fit into tiny evening bags. Never thought about offering samples for sale.... Hmmmm... maybe worth some thought?

O no we managed to shift loads of samples today - people must love something free round my way lol.

Designed a leaflet (4 to a page) with some info about being a rep, my contact details, and space for me to stick a sample to. I've got tonnes in anyway - so I can start to use them up, and then buy them cheap when they're on offer or even out of the clearance with it just being for handing out to people to get them to take the leaflet lol.

    Hi,

Have trawled the Avon website but failed to find any reference. My own upliner has told me that at the recent Live Your Dream conference they were told that all newbies signed up in C15-C18 can order free trial Anew products to try for themselves provided they use the following codes i.e. choose the one relevant for their own age group:

    30+ 69005
    40+ 68809
    50+ 68445
    60+ 68205

Only applicable on their first order.

Not sure if this is in addition to the SmartStart scheme or instead of (or indeed what the actual trial products are) - anyone else heard about this and, if so, any further details?
