How did you pick your wedding date?

Ours is the 4th anniversary of the date we got engaged, and we wanted certain things unique to our town to go with our theme, so that meant it had to be before November.0

Our first date was the 9th Nov and we wanted a wedding date around that time of year. We picked the 5th Nov as there would always be firework displays etc happening on our anniversary for us to go to. We're having a bonfire theme and fireworks so on future anni's it will feel like our wedding day again when we're wrapped up close whatching fireworks.
We picked this year as when we originally got engaged the 5th Nov 2011 seemed way to far away0 -
Ours was going to be March 2011, as I'd made OH promise he'd marry me before I was 30. However, another couple we know are marrying in Australia next March, and as a result our best man and a few close friends would be occupied around that time. So we went for the nearest holiday to that (I teach) so we chose the 16th of April. I'll be 30 and 20 ish days old by then, so nearly hit my target!0

The official reason when anyone asks is it's 3 days before the 3 year anniversary of us getting engaged.
The actual reason is I found out a friend had cancer and it gave me a big kick up the bum to stop delaying it cuz of silly reasons (losing weight, saving a lump some instead of paying as we go, other people's weddings) so i went home and asked OH if he wanted to get married Sept 10 (so not too hot), when I called the ceremoney venue Sept was all booked but they had 23rd October free and the reception had 16th or 23rd free so 23rd seemed to be fate! Sadly we lost my friend to cancer but at least i got to tell him it was his fault i was spending all this moneyGetting hitched! 23/10/10!! :T
Wedding weight loss so far: 7lb!0 -
I always wanted a May or September wedding and when my OH proposed in February this year May 2011 was too close and May 2012 was too far so September 2011 was picked.
We always wanted a midweek or Friday wedding but when the venue said they could do Saturday 3rd and it's the same date as my parent's wedding anniversary it felt like it was meant to be.I :heart2: saving money0 -
We didn't have a huge choice with ours...we wanted to get married between April and June 2011 and the only date the venue had left was April 29th!
Worked out quite nicely though as the price per head goes up by £25 from start of May!! :eek:0 -
There are some really lovely replies on here - we picked our date so it doesnt clash with the football! We got engaged this April, didn't want a long engagement and wanted a Friday - so 3rd June 2011 it is0

We picked our date of 22/10/10, because we knew how long it would roughly take to save up, I don't like the summer (big red eyes all summer
) I knew it would be more MSE to go for a friday and I already was committed to having Oct half term off and the friday is normally an inset day so the day sort of picked itself!! Coming around quickly though!
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0
