Mrs G originally wanted September to fit in with my work commitments, but was advised that July weather would better suit our open air theme. There was only one weekend in July that I wasn't working and the church was free, so the date set itself.

One of Mrs G's friends organised a wedding in less than eight weeks... but then she had to. ;)

I knew that I wanted a marquee on my parents' farm and they would only entertain a summer wedding...... added into that, I'm a teacher and any later than 29th July 2006 it would have been Harvest time for my dad. Easy! 1st weekend of the summer holiday for me!

Picked the year, then went for a couple of weeks after the brochure prices for holidays dropped, once the kids were back at school (pre internet days!)

So end of September it was!

We picked a month, then checked the availiabilty at the venue.
Ideally we'd have chosen 2 weeks earlier than our date, but that's only because OH wanted to get married before his 30th birthday :D

We're getting married 2 years and 4 days after he proposed. We had expected the get married within 2 years and were thinking about May/June but then we decided on the Dominican Republic and had to either bring it forward or back to avoid their rainy season, I didn't want to wait till October so we decided on February/March then had to fit it into half term as we had 3 teachers coming so that was February... and now the teachers can't come anyway and we're stuck with it! It's all good though, we're provisonally booked in for the 18th Feb 2011 and I can't wait!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

We worked out roughly when we wanted (Spring this year) and then found our venue to see if they had any restrictions (they could do anything but the Bank Holiday weekends). Then did a process of elimination to make sure everyone important to us could come and went for that (17th April). It also came into the new annual leave year at work which meant I could get more time off and was early in the leave year for the others who needed time off to travel. I had no sentimental reason to pick a particular date so this seemed the least stressful way to do it.
