                    HI,
I purchased an Iphone 3gs from phones4u in store on June 16, I bought it outright with no contract and no pay as you go sim just the phone. The reason for buying it was that I had an outstanding claim with an insurance company and had mis-read a letter from them in which i thought they had said to buy a replacement phone and I would be refunded by them. As it turns out this is not not the case so I thought I would simply return the phone ( which is still in its original pakaging including plastic wrapping! ) for a refund from phones4u. I have been told that they do not take returns and there was nothing I could do to get my money back and they wouldn't even offer store credit in my case
I am now considerably out of pocket ( although mostly my fault for mis-reading the letter from my insurance company ) and was wondering if there is anything I can do as it seems ludacris that phones4u will not take back the phone,
Thanks in advance

 Simple answer is NO....
I am sorry but why should phones4u take the phone back because you have changed your mind -no legal requirement for them to do so ... suggest you try & sell on ebay - get as much money as you can back.

This is why I nearly always buy online, you have the distance selling regs to fall back on, giving you 7 days from receipt of your item to decide if you want to send it back( must be in a saleable condition and not made to order)Simple answer is NO....

It's entirely your fault, where else would blame lie?
 You're entitled to nothing.
Ebay is your best bet - remember to send it special delivery Thinking critically since 1996....0 Thinking critically since 1996....0

Maybe because it was i genuine mistake NOT a change of mind, Also the profit margin they make on selling just a phone could be as little as £10 or £20 they make all their money from contracts etc. I said I was quite happy to take store credit so they would still be making that exact same amount of money? it just doesn't seem sensible to me and what if it had been a duplicated gift? I feel there should be I certain amount of time for anything at all to be returned to a retailer as long as said item is still in original un-opened pakaging.
Does anyone think it will make a difference if I go to a different store and embelish my story a bit maybe say it was an unwanted gift? Or do you think the information will now be stored on phones4u computer system?
P.S> would like to say the call to phones4u customer service has to be one of the most rude and usless excersises in my life!!!0

If you had been bought a duplicate gift then the person buying the gift (the person that the retailer has a contract was with) would have no rights to a return, this simply does not exist within law. A number of shops may have this as a policy but is in addition to your statutory rights (i.e. not a legal requirement of the retailer). The store manager who nearly took my arm off and said absuloutley nothing at all about a no returns policy? surley I should have been told?
No, there is no requirement in law for you to be able to return a product if you change your mind - never has been and (probably) never will be.
You live and learn.Thinking critically since 1996....0

There is no such thing as a no return policy on non-faulty goods, there may be a return policy but that is up to the individual company and there is no law that says they must give refunds. The store manager who nearly took my arm off and said absuloutley nothing at all about a no returns policy? surley I should have been told?If at first you don't succeed, maybe bomb disposal isn't the best career choice.0

I said earlier -ebay is your friend ... see what you can get for it on there ...
As to whether you changed your mind or made a mistake - doesn't really matter - you still can not return it.
