I can't bear the hype and massive expense that surrounds it all in general, but I love the family traditions and those couple of days of peace and fun and putting lots of effort into buying or making presents that will make people happy.0

yeah, i like the xmas shopping part of it - little else, though..the build up always makes it a bit of a let-down IMO
ETA _ and also, I do think there should be a law against mentioning it / stocking the shops with things, until December 1st..

There's no need for things in the shops before then. Who wants mince pies in September?! I shop for presents for Christmas, birthdays etc all year round - I just buy stuff when I see it.0

Yeah and it reminds me I've only 2 members of my family left and Jon's got no-one, not the happiest of occasions.
Not normally a misery...honest!!!0 -

I'm always on the look out for vintage xmas stuff on eBay - I'm not a lover of xmas but also not a hater - I do however love the food side of it, oh and the booze!
I do hate the whole new year thing though.0 -
I loathe New Year with a vengeance.0

I have to say I'm really looking forward to Christmas this year...more the food side than anything though! I plan to make up for the last 8 years of no Christmas dinner!0
