Is now a good time to point out that we never lost to Man City in the league when 'he' was our manager? Probably not...:beer:0

Thanks for being so kind.
Just back from town with a few last things for the 'big walk'. Just got these lightweight combat trousers reduced in Blacks, mainly because they are fast drying and very light http://uk.thenorthface.com/tnf-uk-en/activity/trek-travel/women/trousers-shorts/women-s-meridian-cargo-capri.html
Does anyone else read the Calivintage blog? It's one of my favourites, but she is currently doing a long distance cycle ride and has to carry all her clothes on her bike (I will be carrying all my stuff on my back) and had just done a post on 'cycle chic' so I have been inspired. I will look good on this walk :rotfl:
Thanks for this! DD has been selected at work as a mentor on a teens outward bound course this winter. She's the most junior mentor to go in thr company and her immediate boss has been ever so slightly patronising along the lines of " last year there was no-one the teenage girls could talk to about make-up and hair straightening" etc etc. She is a girly girl, but she is made of stern stuff! If I did one thing right, I made sure of that!
He hasn't quite said anything about not wearing pink wellies yet, but we know that's what he's thinking! Her strategy is to smile sweetly and "show him" on the day, but we're hunting ebay atm to fill the kit gaps!0 -
Now is as good a time as any to point out that I can't stand football
And thats good Alex0 -
Oh and yay for expenses Alex!
Right my packing list:
1 x north face capri trousers (dark grey)
2 x shorts (both Howies - one pair grey, one pair dark green)
2 x merino vests (1 from howies (cream), 1 from finisterre (fushcia))
1 x purpley wool vest (howie)
1 x grey and cream striped merino long sleeved top (howies)
1 x purple merino jumper (howies)
1 x chambray shirt (Miss Selfridge)
1 x Navy and cream peasant shirt (Warehouse via Oxfam)
1 x heather grey zip fronted top (howies)
1 x dark green waterproof coat (finisterre)
1 x cream weatherproof hat (Peter Storm)
undies, walking socks, walking boots, gladiator sandals for evenings...
shower gel (flying fox from lush, a little indulgence for tired girls), lush shampoo bar, mini foot cream (my other indulgence treat from Neal's Yard), badger balm, vaseline, suncream, mascara, benefit posey tint, No7 face wipes, teeth stuff
What do we think, too much, too little? Practical but still stylish? We are staying in nice places as well as walking. I am a notorious over packer and I haven't a clue...:beer:0 -
I think it all sounds greaot RW!
Sounds as though you have enough mix/match possibilities for any eventuality with the weather..Will you be warm enough??0 -

Yay indeed. I'd have been screwed without them! I really don't know where my money has disappeared to this month. I'm taking September as a savings holiday and am going to buy nice things (new winter coat etc) without feeling guilty about it for once.
Sounds very practical but stylish to meIs there enough warm stuff in there though? I'm not sure which of the tops you've listed are jumper type things.
Also have you got room for a lightweight dress & cardi for the evenings? We must get some sunshine at some point, surely, and if you've been wearing the shorts or trousers all day it might be nice to have something a bit different to chuck on?0 -

I think so, got lots of layers to pile on and they are mostly all quick drying ones. The only reason I think I'll get very cold is if I get soaked to the skin (which looks likely at the moment )
Oh that reminds me - I have some waterproof trousers somewhere too... thanks, I knew it was worth posting this
Alex - yes, good idea, I'll see what I can find...:beer:0 -
Oh boy I know how you feel Alex, and I can't understand it either as I was away at camp for one spend-free week, and haven't rly been shopping in ages. Have made heaps on ebay (well, relatively - as in enough to cover all i have purchased from there..)0

I could put one of these in http://store.americanapparel.net/rsa8339.html if that works? My beloved convertable AA dress (I say dress, I have five - oops) I'm thinking the black one - instantly smart isn't it, black? And as it's jersey so it will dry out if the rucksack leaks. We are staying in a rather posh hotel on my birthday... Black or grey? (Or I have yellow, turquoise and brown too...):beer:0
