    Hi ladies!

    Yucky, yucky weather eh?

Made a winter purchase yesterday ( did I , who is in denial re winter, really say that?!)

An impulse buy whilst hitting my little row of chazza shops in Hoylake. It's an immaculate cropped red pure wool jacket, originally from Planet. £7.99. I love red in winter! What it needs are some shoulder pads and the buttons changing for some gold ones to recreate a military effect. It would take some frogging ( is that the right word for that braid stuff? I hope I haven't inadvertently said something obscene!) , but don't think I'm that brave!

Now, need to hunt out the new buttons.

    Morning all

Hope the wedding goes well Alex.
Bronnie - good find, I forgot yesterday I also found an 80's black velvet dress, mid thigh length with short sleeves - have noticed that the velvet 'thing' is coming back in this winter but thought I could wear it with biker boots and coloured tights mmmm just meed some biker boots now;)

We're off swimming this morning DS's want OH to go so they can take him on the water slides, then I think I may leave them all at home and see if I can get a little bit of a charity shop rummage in this afternoon.

Morning all. We're off on hols today so comfy jeans and t shirt for travelling. It will be casual practical the whole weekend as we are going to centerparcs. I went into town yesterday to buy a waterproof and came back with this

Oops. Highly impractical! I'm going to remove the corsage and replace it with one of my own.

been a while - busy sorting stuff for my trip to china which i leave for a week on monday. I'm not doing so well at trying to learn chinese sadly!

Thought i'd share a bit of a baking disaster which is currently in progress...
OH asked for a chocolate cake for his birthday and i'm normally more of a fan of victoria sponges so i was looking for recipes on the internet and came across the gorgeous looking red velvet cakes. I was going to do white chocolate cream cheese icing anyway so it looked perfect.

I couldnt be bothered to go seek out buttermilk & shortening which they all seemed to need so i thought i'd just add red colour to a normal chocolate cake and it would still look good.

The mixture looked more pink than red but i'm optimistic so i thought it would be OK after baking. Made a couple of extra little cakes to test which are done and have now realised that for a boy's 23rd birthday i have made.... a great big barbie pink coloured cake.

    b****cks :P

He's getting it anyway but any ideas on making it look a bit less like it should have gone to a 7 year old girl?

ps. The link caroline posted works if you put : after http in the link or delete the http//
Its a very pretty coat :)

marzipan fish.......can you ice it with chocolate or white chocolate icing and decorate with fresh strawberries there are loads of examples on google images.

Then the sponge will connect with the strawberries rather than Barbie IYSWIM!
  • ooh strawberry & chocolate is a great idea :D

Infact i saw boxes reduced to £1 when i was out so i'll pop back out once i've taken the cake out of the oven. yay!
  • Hiya,

I have one of those boots vouchers, thanks for reminding me. Are the face wipes that much better than cheaper brands? When I do my charity walk next week I need to pack light but posh face wipes could be a little endulgence.

    Me today:
Black lace shift dress (I know it came from one of the many charity shops in Lowestoft, but I can't remember which one)
    Gold lurex cardigan (Oxfam, Chelmsford)
Gold, black and pearl 'bib' necklace (reduced to £1 in the Topshop sale)
    Black ballet pumps (new look)
    Vintage leather satchel (ebay)
Crappy Eastpack laptop bag (TK Maxx - how I long for a good looking laptop bag. Do they even exist?)

Afternoon ladies, i've not posted in a few days :(.

Anyway, I got my hair chopped. It was way below my shoulders and its now a 'long bob'. I hated it yesterday but I actually love it now. Whoever said that short hair is less work than long hair was sadly mistaken!!!

Won a couple of cute skirts off eBay. One is florally and gorgeous. It was featured in more magizine and I loved it. Also won my dress for my Xmas night out :D.

I hope everyone is well and i'm off to catch up with the posts!
