Alex - I think that dress would be fine for the wedding. I've seen a lot of black and white at weddings in recent years - it's quite chic. Check out the black outfits from the Parisian uber-bloggers at Cherry Blossom Girl's wedding:http://www.misspandora.fr/alixmanu

Just googled it and apparently the not wearing black is VERY old fashioned!!! I'll get me coat...
eta.. Just spoken to mum she sed that she beleives black and white should be avoided, and i quote ' why are you planning to wear black to a wedding when there are so many beautiful colours you could wear...and who's getting married??' Yes those words have rung in my ears many times...
Sorry not sure if any of that actually helps...Sometimes your the dog, and sometimes your the lampost..:p0 -
I think I'm old fashioned too then! I do think it can look lovely - Sarah, the pics in that link are stunning! - but I'm still a bit unsure. Might see if I can find anything tomorrow that I'll feel more comfortable in.0

Alex - that dress is beautiful! I must say I dressed my bridesmaids in black at my wedding (I had a black belt on my dress) so I didn't even know you shouldn't wear black to weddings!! (I'm sure that's not an omen, the marriage was a farce but the wedding was really ace)
Could you put a colour with it? Silver or fuscia or turquoise or something?:beer:0 -
I was a bridesmaid in black at the wedding in May but then the colour was the bride's choice so it wasn't so bad, if that makes sense?
My wardrobe is so limited when it comes to dressy stuffAdding colours would mean buying loads of new stuff and I'm trying to avoid that.

I really think black and cream would be really chic and fine:beer:0 -
The Aussie and I are off on a 'date' on Saturday. We're going to the Borough Market and the Globe, the only problem is I was looking forward to making a bit of an effort and dressing up a bit but our ticket for the Globe are standing and there is no roof above the standing area! Errr any ideas for chic rainwear? I just wanted to look nice before we go on our epic hike next week:beer:0
