The day the bag went after the Police said there was nothing they could do and they would not be coming out I did knock on the door and ask her to give it back. She did not open the door to me and just spoke through the door saying she had been in bed all day and did not have the bag. She has avoided me since as well, if she is out on the balcony and I drive in after work she goes indoors before I get out of the car. These are all signs to me of a guilty conscience.
She does not work and due to the drinking she seems to nap throughout the day and night so it is not unusual to hear her up and about at 3am but hear the kids banging on the door at 4pm to be let in after school because she has fallen asleep.

I'm thinking of getting a small camera to look through the spy hole on the door, that will show me everyone that approaches my door and could possibly show me if anything is going missing. Then I was thinking of getting something very small that I could have hanging outside of an upstairs bedroom window. That way it will not be noticable to her straight away and I'll be able to capture her before she realises.

Obviously, make sure you don't leave anything else outside your house and divert all parcels to another address.

Why is she putting glue in your locks? If she is stealing it maybe to fed her alcohol habit, but damage your door just sounds malicious. What has she done to other neighbours?

I wonder if your local Crime Prevention Officer could come out and advise about securing your house. And as others have suggested, instead of outright accusing her of something, a more subtle approach to let her know you are onto her. Maybe put a note through the door to say the block are thinking about setting up a neighbourhood watch scheme, as everyone is worried about some recent "incidents". It will let her know you all onto her, it may just be enough to get her to stop.

Report her to Social Services for child neglect. Get one of those fake CCTV cameras overlooking your door in an obvious place, as well as a less obvious real one, and that should catch her out. Put a note through all the neighbours doors about the 'incidents' and say that you'll be starting a Neighbourhood Watch group and when you have the proof will be having them removed.

I'd also send the largest tarantula you can find in a package to your house but not answer so that she opens it and hopefully drops dead of fright.

My Bf was having problems with one of his neighbours (and serious problems at that) and the managing agent for his flats (he's buying his, but the neighbour was renting) refused to tell him who the landlord was for the flat. So he then went around every letting agent in his town and asked if they were responsible for "flat 1 so and so road" when he found the right one, he complained and took along photographic evidence of what had been happening and detailed descriptions of times and dates that the events had taken place. Perhaps something along these lines might be worth a try as his neighbours "decided" to move out within a fortnight.

Or better yet! Leave a bottle of vodka, full of paint thinner just inside your kitchen door and leave it open so if she steals it, she'll be very, very ill at the very least. Dirty, alcoholic, thieving scum should be put down anyway.

Good grief - what a situation!!

I can't believe the police didn't even come out, all it would have taken was a quick look and they would have found it if she had it.

A relative of mine had her neighbours drugs posted through her door(!) not even a rough area tbh...she took it to the police, deposited it on their desk and was told there's nothing they can do, it's only heresay but here's a crime number...even though the neighbour had had the cheek to knock the door and ask for it!

I don';t understand about your neighbour putting sellotape etc on the locks - she woudl know if you're back or not since she obviously spys out the house all day!!

I like the idea of a camera through the spyhole, that way you can see whats going on outside your door without her knowing. Mind you, even if she could see a camera watching the door it might be enough of a deterrent. but I woudln't put it past her to cover up the lens etc *rolls eyes*

A slightly less time-consuming way to find out who owns a property is to log onto the Land Registry site and put the full address in. This will cost you about £4

I think getting a camera outside your house is better than the peep hole idea as if she know's it's there, all she needs to do is just duck down and hide from it. But if you put the camera out on the landing then she'll find it harder to hide from it.

    Good luck

When did she move in, you say you were there first? Go on houseprices.co.uk and put in the address and see if it was sold about the time she moved in, if so she may well own it, if not she is almost certainly renting.

And I'd put sellotape across her door frame see how she likes it.
