Dorset is lovely and Id go with the Isle of Purbeck too. Lots for you to see and do. Swanage is a real old fashioned seaside town.

Or what about the New Forest?

The one thing that worries me is the distance for you and a family getting to these places on the south coast?

There's a campsite in Paignton, South Devon which offers really good deals on static caravans - we have booked a week in the summer hols for £349 for a 2-bed 4-berth. The company is called Beverley Holidays. There is loads to do with kids in this part of Devon- Paignton itself has long sandy beaches, a zoo and other stuff. There is a steam train / riverboat daytrip available too. The towns of Torquay and Brixham are nearby for more attractions (The Golden Hinde boat, "Living Coasts" coastal zoo...). There are plenty of open farms, parks, adventure trails, castles, a model village, abbeys, theme parks, prehistoric caves (which you can use Tesco clubcard deals for btw) around the area. I would highly recommend this part of Devon for a family holiday.

We love North Devon (though we're only 40 miles away, so no big problem if the weather turns nasty!) - North Cornwall is lovely, too, though the coast is dramatic, and not always sandy - if you really want sand, head for Woolacombe (or Morthoe, its neighbour). The south coast is very nice, though rather more developed/crowded.

I am not sure where exactly to go. I want family-orientated things like a wildlife park, sandy beache(s), and just attractions like this. I don't want to end up in the countryside with just a beach to go to.

I would massively appreciate any help

watermouth lodges in ilfracombe is absolutly lovely..set in the grounds of watermouth castle...safari park nearby..open top classic coach stops in the grounds and cheap transfer into the town for a couple of quid
