I am looking for a holiday in the UK, or perhaps even somewhere via ferry. But it can't be too expensive. It is a family holiday I am looking for. I am in Scotland, and am looking to go down south.

Does anyone have any ideas of where to go.
It's a relaxing holiday we are looking for with nice beach, etc.
I have no idea what to do so would appreciate ANY suggestions.

How far down south? A ferry would add hundreds to the cost.

Devon is gorgeous...I love the North Devon area and if I had enough time and money I'd go there every year! There's some fantastic beaches there (especially Saunton Sands which my kids adored), as well as some gorgeous countryside in Exmoor and loads of places to visit. I've posted on various threads here about the area and there's usually been a lot of people have also posted recommendations on them, so if you do a quick search you'll probably find loads of advice. Or try this for more 'official' info on the area

Well, it's good to hear Devon is nice.

So North Devon is most recommended? Anyone recommend a particular hotel in North Devon?

    Thanks guys!

Never thought too much of a cottage.
Any recommendations as to where exactly I should stay? I don't know how big North Devon is but want to be near some nice sandy beaches

Croyde is beautiful, in fact most of Devon is.

You could also look around Dorset, or Somerset as there are some great beaches there too.
