hate my new phone! am i stuck?

Hey
Well I received my phone yesterday morning and I hate it! I can't believe it, I've been wanting this phone (n91) for ages and now I have it, I hate it. It's so bulky and difficult to use (the buttons are tiny). I really don't want it any more. It's from https://www.mobileshop.com and on vodafone 12 month contract. Am I stuck with it for a year or will they let me cancel the contract and send the phone back? I'm really upset cos I thought I would love this phone!

  • I think you can return it under the 14 days distance selling regulations. However you will need to be firm with them as they will try to talk you out of it.

I would think so, they have a 14 day cooling off period for things you buy over the phone/internet/mail... I did the same thing last year with a Panasonic house brick with stupid upside down navigation keys.

    Thanks, :)

Yeah the n91 is like a house brick to me. It doesn't fit properly in my handbag either! I feel reallly silly for not liking it but I couldn't spend the next year hauling this phone around with me, I hate it so much! I should have gone for the pink v3 phone (thats how girly I am and this n91 is like a boys toy to me).

  • some retailers charges 'admin fees' if you return a phone even within the cooling off period. e.g. phones2udirect charges £35.

    Good luck.

it says they charge you £9.99, I'm not bothered, I just want rid of this horrible thing. :(

feeling like a right idiot now! has anyone else ever cancelled a contract? Please say yes. or just point at me and laugh!

  • if they are difficult about taking it back you could always flog it on eBay - assuming you have or know someone with an account with lots of positive feedback.

Yes I have. You are not an idiot, you aren't going to know what the phone is like until it's in your hand and you have tried it. That's what colling off periods are for. And I wouldn't let them charge me £9.99.... imagine if that was what you got charged EVERY TIME you returned something?

I'm not sure :o The navigation key was a toggle thing that you pushed around with your thumb. I was used to Nokia phones and the menu was so different. It took me about 20 minutes to send a text because you would type the text then have to search for the recipient, then it would ask you a load of questions. I think you had to press about 12 buttons before the text actually went  I returned it, got a Nokia and haven't tried another brand since.

Kittykate there is no way on this earth that we would pay ten quid to return a phone withing the 14 day cooling off period. Tell them that you will order another phone from them but if they try to charge you £9.99 then you will take your business elsewhere.
