Its ok i managed to get a refund in the end , also made a complaint about the staff member who attitude was not to my satisfaction. :T

Yes its nice to know Argos know the Law........ its just a shame when they try and palm used goods on to people , they have been told of by Trading standards in the past about this , i have got items home in the past to only find out they had been used , so not sure why Argos think this is ok to do?
  • I bought a phone from Argos that went faulty about 6 months after having it - it happened over the catalogue changeover and they no longer sold it - checked in currys next door to the argos, they sold it. went into argos, they told me it could go in for repair or I could choose an alternative, told them I really wanted the same phone and they no longer stocked it but currys did, so would really like a refund so i could get it - she went off, came back a few mins later and gave me a full refund - I think sometimes it depends on who you get as to the result you get.

I can understand why the member of staff got fed up with you.

Yet again you come on here with a different story.

Have to give them credit tbh for putting up with you at all.

I think you will find it also depends on the attitude of the customer as to how helpful they will be and whether they will bend a bit on the rules.

Nex0 , you seem to have an Attitude do you work for Argos maybe?

You dont know the whole story , i got upset because of her attitude , my Attitude was good at the start but betime i had finished with her i admit she wound me up , obviously on some sort of mission ,probably made her feel good about herself , who knows  ...i finally get the refund but why not do this at the start?

But im not going to keep on about it now as its all finished with.

My (now ex thank God) brother-in-law regularly takes items like video & DVD players etc. back to Argos near the end of the 12 months and claims they don't work. In the past they just gave him replacements.
Presumably Argos have had so much of this with people ripping them off that they've decided to fall back on the law.
I bet the woman in Argos you spoke to has had many people coming in towards the end of the guarantee periods demanding a refund for an item they claim doesn't work any more and you were just unlucky that your phone actually has broken.
Good customer service also depends to a great extent on customers not abusing the goodwill of the retailer, because eventually it will backfire on all of us.

it all depends, I manged to return a dvd recorder back without its recipt and paid by cash, it all depends there is a saying too sweet and youll be chewd too bitter and youll be spat out, its translated very badly but you get the jist.

anyway happy to know you got your refund welldone, if its a defo fault then why not refund as they will return it to makers, also argos have a 3 year warranty on most goods at ok price and it covers accidental damge too so worth it in the end, I have yet to use it though.
  • I have just last week dropped my mobile in to argos for repair a second time same fault in the last month. the phone is only 5 months old. And its a huge inconvieniance as a mother with two children who drives if i brake down in the car how can i call? I also drive long distance ie last weekend cadwell park from west sussex, weekend before oulton park, yesterday silverstone. all with no phone. i didnt have the reciept but i had my bank statement which shows the dat and transaction details also the serial number is on box so can all be traced. but i was told they would have to send it away again.

Just frustrating, when i pointed out it was ridiculas (sp?) to the customer service she said " if you had taken anything back to virgin its ten times worse.." my reply... well i brought the phone from here and so far im not singing your praises.

So as usual it is the freeloaders that ruin it for the genuine customers....doesn't sound like you miss ex b.i.l too much, I don't think I would either.

You should of rung head office and explain the situation they will ring the store and speak to the manager , if no luck and there is another Argos store not far.... then try getting a refund from that one, usually best to go when its busy at weekends :D

I think in your case after having the same 2 faults with the same phone model that they would refund  you should state if the same fault has happened again they its bound to happen a 3rd time and request an alternative or a refund.

    Good luck
