Car dilema request for assistance
Options
Dear all,
I have a dilema! i have an old car 1995 which is costing more to repair than keep, however i haven't got the necessary funds to go out and buy and nearly new car. i have no idea what car i want either but there are a few specifications eg fuel effiective.
I want a car that is more cost effective, probably diesel as i am currently doing over 1,000 miles a week for work (no they don't provide a company car! and i only get 17p per mile in expenses) can anyone suggest something other than a new job?
i have no family and do not have to carry anything more than a laptop but i'm willing to ride around in anything that is cheap to run re parts, maintainance etc.
re budget i could probably go to 100 a month but i hate taking out fiance as i think they are mostly rip offs. i don't really want to get a loan either as i am still paying off student loans 5 years after graduating (and that was invested to pay for my current car!) like i said earlier - any suggestions? :A

We just bought a car via ebay - having done our research on the best runners (longevity) and what kind of price we should expect to pay. Walked away with a car for £1300 that is a steal - and an MPV.
I did also look at the hire/lease route - as someone in the trade recommended this option, and said that really if you want a no hassle deal then this is a fixed amount you budget in, and most have maintanance all included etc.
If you put in hire/lease purchase into google you can get some good websites. OR try ebay (if you dare!!)

It does really depend on how much you're willing to pay. My other half has a Skoda octavia (and travels about as many miles per week as you) and it's a real workhorse, diesel and your laptop will get lost in the bootspace. They are an absolute favourite of the taxi drivers because of their cost, reliability and the diesels will just keep going. (When I bought a skoda fabia recently to replace my '92 Orion, the dealership said they had a skoda taxi that had done more than 400K miles and it was still going strong.!!)
Skoda's in my opinion though are hard to get hold of but IMHO they are great. It might not look great but maybe search for a skoda felicia that has been owned by an older person that hasn't thrashed it (to keep purchase cost lower) Unfortunately I too had nil cash when my orion went to the big scrapyard in the sky but was lucky to get a loan from the bank of MumandDad !!!Not sure if this helps but good luck.

Why not take a look at Lingscars.com? You can get a brand new car for around £110pm. If it's new then you won't need to worry about parts as they'll be covered under warranty.Treat others as you would like to be treated :A0

If you want cheap motoring then go and spend £1500-£2000 on a near perfect Nissan Micra. My mother bought an immaculate 5 year old version for £1700 last year and we've done nothing to it except a basic service.
Nissan, Toyota, Honda etc, all very reliable.
If you want cheap running costs then a small and light car is the no1 priority. Then you want an engine that isn't too small or large - a 1.2-1.6L engine is fine for a small/medium car.Happy chappy0
