ryanstarr...well done for all youre doing. its hard work raising money.
I'm doing a trek of the great wall of china (and before anyone hops on that particular bandwagon yes i am self funding lol) im doing it for world cancer research fund. so know what you mean about all the companies let downs.
i will say i find small local businesses are more likely to offer you something. im holding an evening of food and dancing. a local pub has let us have the function room free and is doing a buffet for free if we can garantee at least 50 ppl. he has a few bands and djs that owe him a favour so he is going to see if one will do it for free
we have written to a lot of companies for a raffle, so far we have had donated a haircut (worth 37 pounds) a beauty treatment (still have to confirm what treatment) a gift box of luxury cupcakes (from an independant cakebaker) some year memberships to the local pool hall, a 10 pound gift voucher from the theatre royal.
and that is just from a dozen companies. we found the smaller companies more giving because we have offered to hand out business cards or leaflets for them at any event we do.
we are hoping to hold a charity auction nxt year and are going to write to celebs to see if we can get autographed pics to auction off.
you could write to some local leaflet printers to see if they will do you some free or a discount, and say to them that you will be happy for them to put their company ad on it too. that way they get more advertising IYSWIM? so they might be more giving with any help.
hope that has helped...good luck in all you do0 -
oh and have a look at the world cancer research fund uk (who im raising for) they are a charity that helps raise awareness on ways to prevent cancer by using diet and exercise. they also fund reseachers finding new ways to preventr it0

Are you allowed to use ebay in this way for donations ? Just beware, you don't want them to close your account if you want to sell things as well - might be worth asking on the ebay board a bit further down as there's people on there that will know.0
