Sunderland FC Massive Praise

I recently emailed many sports clubs and newspapers etc in the hope of them sending anything of value , merch etc that could be auctioned off to fund information leaflets for a cause I have set up named Skate4Cancer-UK
Not sure if im allowed to post FB links in here so im sorry in advance but here goes
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=238722603499&ref=ts
The aim of the group is simply to provide youth with an online community for cancer awareness. Too many youth smoke to " fit in " with others these days as they think its the " cool " thing to do. So we are here to try and show them that not smoking is just as cool and I feel this online community does that. Even if it helps just 1 person not smoke I feel the snowball effect of this could be huge.
Anyway , some clubs such as Everton have emailed back saying sorry but they cant donate anything due to club protocol .
But within an hour of me sending Sunderland FC an E-Mail they had replied telling me they had checked the group and they think its a really worthwhile cause and they are going to send out a print of The Stadium of Light signed by Niall Quinn.
Massive Credit to Sunderland for this , just wanted to come here and give them the praise they deserve

Kudos to Sunderland. But I wouldn't be too harsh on those clubs that didn't help - they must get inundated with similar requests; it's possibly a little unfair to name them.
Anyhow, good luck with your campaign...a worthwhile cause.0 -
I wasnt naming everton out of any kind of malice, I get that they have so many requests , just a bit gutting when they say no when i would have accepted just a picture signed by a reserve player etc.
anyway yeah very very happy with sunderland.
latest update is that Barcelona have promised to send out some licensed merchandise in the pre season so thats good too
Where is the best place to auction these things ? I will be gutted if i put them on ebay and dont get a lot for them as every penny helps.
still looking at which websites are cheapest to get leaflets printed too , so if anyone can help on that it would help a lot0 -
ebay going to be your best bet0

Sunderland are known as the caring club as they do try and help the community as much as they can.
My son once wrote a hand written letter and asked Niall Quinn if he would come and personally open the school fayre, or if not could he donate a raffle prize. Niall sent a letter saying sorry he couldn't make it but he enclosed a signed picture for the raffle. He also said he was so impressed with my son's letter, he was also enclosing a signed photograph for my son to keep for himself. As a life long Sunderland supporter, he was thrilled to get praise from Niall QuinnHere I go again on my own....0 -

Niall Quinn is one of the nicest people you could hope to meet, an utter gentleman. What he's done for Sunderland AFC and also charities in Sunderland and Dublin is outstanding, it should be remembered he was the first footballer to donate all his testimonial year money to charity and went out of his way to make sure as much was raised as humanly possible.0 -
I never knew Niall was such a nice guy about things like this but major credit to him. I wanted to praise Sunderland after their generosity so that's why I come here
Simply hope some other clubs help out now and I can get thousands of leaflets printed0 -
Yea ebay is your best bet0

thanks
What do you reckon the min bid should be for something like that? Obviously I dont wanna undersell it as the more money it goes for the more leaflets get printed.

What you do is put a written blurb about the scheme in the auction listing, create an "About Me" ebay page and then put a more detailed written blurb there as well along with any 3 links (eg, facebook group)
Personally, 7 day listing at 99p aiming to finish about 11pm one night, dont forget to add uk, eu and ww postage prices which will mean your listing gets seen by members from other countries.0 -
