Phone Recycle Bank

Hi
I have searched but cannot find many comments on Phone Recycle Bank.

Basically, I filled out their online form, and sent them my old iPhone by Royal Mail Special Delivery. It was delivered to them nearly two weeks ago according to the Royal Mail tracking web site (I still have the receipt from the post office). When I emailed to ask about the progress of my order, Phone Recycle Bank said they thought it was still in their warehouse and would try to get on with it asap. They asked for my RMSD tracking number to help them work out where the phone was. After nothing seemed to happen for a few days I emailed back but as of today (4 days later) have not had a reply. I have tried ringing the 0800 number on their website but it just rings and noone picks up.

So....does anyone have any positive experience with Phone Recycle Bank, because at the moment I'm not feeling very confident about having sent them my phone!

I am currently having the same problem with Phone Recycle Bank.

I had heard nothing a week after sending my phone and sent an email.

They do respond to emails quite quickly, initially telling me that the phone still had not been received and asking for information on when and from where I sent the phone.

Last week, having sent another email, I was informed that my phone had been received, but had not yet been 'booked on' to the system as it was currently being checked by their technicians and I should allow a further 72 hours to complete checks and to have the cheque issued.

6 days later, still nothing, so I email again only to receive a reply that my phone had not yet booked on as it may not have been received.

I am very disappointed with the terrible service I am receiving and definitely would not recommend that anyone use this company.

Keep us filled in if you have any luck with this company and I will do the same.

Thats not what I wanted to hear. I sent mine via DHL on Monday. They received it Tuesday but still nothing has been logged. Numerous phone calls as well seem to get no where. I never had this problem with the Royal Mail's Simply Drop one. I should have used them. I wouldn't mind with a cheap phone but it was an iPhone. I will give them until next Tuesday and then take them to the small claims court as I have proof of delivery and they are in breach on contract if they don't provide the service.

They have emailed me to say that they do in fact have my phone and that it has passed their hardware tests so I should expect my cheque in the post in a few days. Fingers crossed! I'll let you know once the cheque actually arrives.

I would agree that the customer service hasn't exactly been great, but this is the first phone recycling company I've tried so I have nothing to compare it to. Also, (providing the cheque does actually arrive) they will have paid a bit more than other quotes I got from O2 Recycle and some other companies - and the phone did have a couple of slight cracks around the dock connector (it was a white iPhone 3G) which apparently have not reduced the price they are paying me for it.

Also, in the email they say that because of the delay on their part, their system shows it as having arrived late, so it produced the current price of £187 rather than the £205 I agreed to, but that they would be issuing a second cheque for £17 to make up the difference as they acknowledged that this was their error. Hope that helps for those of you still waiting for news on your phones - it does seem like they are reputable, but that perhaps their system is a bit overwhelmed with phones at the moment.

I think next time I won't chase the highest bidder so to speak. When did they actually receive your phone and when did they email to say its passed inspection?
  • Phone was delivered to them on 17 June, they confirmed it has "passed" on 30 June. If I go to the "My Account" section of their website the details still haven't been updated though...
  • Cheque arrived this morning - that's a relief!

Sometimes it's worth looking at the highest 2 or 3 and checking what additional cashback you can get through Quidco. The additional cashback could move your 2nd place payer up to 1st and if they are a more reliable firm, you win!

Finally mine was received by them and acknowledged. They are so slow though you have to argue for the original price otherwise they reduce it. Hopefully my cheque should arrive in the next day or so. Don't use this company, slow, only pay by cheque and their online tracking doesn't work. Next time I will use Mazuma and won't bother chasing a few extra quid!

Yeah go for reviews, send recorded and make sure its not a PO Box and an actual address.
