"I can only apologise - I had 20 odd but my darling little boy found them and 'filed' them - I thought a quid back for 3 sims was more than fair when you only paid 6 quid for so many... if it is a problem please return them and I will refund you your cash and your return postage costs. thanks and sorry"

hmmm, I did pay £11, (inc postage-£5 is a tad steep, no?)

    AND,

they could have told me before posting....

I know its not a great deal, but just put out since i had to get other sims from another seller...

    Any more thoughts?

well, its a well discussed topic here, but you knew the postage costs before you bought the items, so i don't think you should be trying to negotiate based on whether or not the postage was a tad steep.

personally, i'd say take it on the chin and accept she / he threw you back a pound to cover three out of the 20 items not being there and leave it at that.

if you leave a neg, bear in mind they will neg you back, up to you how you value your feedback percentage.

Well, it would be nice to think that a responsible seller would have contacted you before sending them to point out what you were actually going to receive (as opposed to what you actually bid and paid for) and to offer you the option of bailing out?

I think you really do need to leave a neg!

That's kinda what i'm thinking, i wouldnt dream of sending something incomplete without contacting the buyer first. Maybe i'm just expecting too much, i dunno.
I totally accept that i knew the postage beforehand, but the seller is making out like I got a total bargain and doing me a favour, when they obviously got the sims free in the first place!!!!

You've already received positive feedback so there's no chance of a revenge neg.

Leave the neg, keep it factual and be content in the knowledge that others bidding on his/her auctions will be mindful that they may not actually get what they are bidding on and paying for.

It's not malicious, you're simply calling it at it is!

Personally I'd probably leave neg, due to the lack of communication rather than the lack of items. It would have been far more professional if the seller had emailed you and given you the option of pulling out than to just take your money and post anyway.

If I was in a better mood it might be neutral - but it would have to be one hell of a good one!

    Thanks for all your help.
Gonna neg, still not happy about the way they went about it. Shoddy excuse too.

  • Personally I get fed up of getting the excuse from sellers "you got the item cheap enough", as an excuse for poor service, so I would definitely leave the seller a negative, or at best, a neutral!

I hate that too, whether it's on eBay, or from a shop or whatever. Of course the unit cost should be calculated as a proportion of the total price paid (inc p&p) when offering a partial refund, and the seller hsould have contacted you before they posted the cards to ask if their "solution" was acceptable. I would not hold the loss of the cards against them - these things happen - but their customer service leaves much to be desired. Even so, if I returned the cards and received a full refund including return postage, I'd be inclined to leave neutral rather than negative feedback. I'm a bit of a softie.

The buyer should not have advertised 20 if only 17 were available, either they had 20 to sell and got a better price for the 3 missing sims or there were never actually 20 available in the first place, either way you were shafted, insist on the proportional refund if it is not forthcoming then make a partial chargeback for the missing amount, the buyer is obviously trying to call your bluff in the knowledge whether justified or not that you have got a good deal on the remaining sims and will be reluctant to return for a full refund, if you were to return then a refund of your postage costs should also be included.
