not my midwife unfortunately she is horrible. I have been seeing the docs at the hospital every 4weeks and they want my blood pressure checking and urine testing every week from 27weeks and twice a week form 32 weeks her reply to this last week was, "I dont have time to do this I will see you every week from 30weeks but if the docs think its that important to see you twice a week they can make you an appointment themselves at the hospital clinic." She said this to me not the docs, so what thats gonne do I dont know unless she tells them she cant do this they are gonna think this will happen not seeing docs now only having glucose test on 23rd becasue im suppose to be seeing her from 27weeks. Do you think I should complain. There is only one midwife at my docs so couldnt ask to see another one and dont really want her being funny with me.

I have SPD this time, My first baby was 10lb 2oz, twins were much smaller but 5 weeks early.

I have never had SPD before. The physio I went to see the other day was absolutely wonderful, really helpful. I have hypermobility which she said doesn't help but gave me a support belt, exercises to do, said I can go swimming as long as I'm not doing big kicks ( like breastsroke) she said as long as I can keep myself to doggy paddle the exercise will actually be helpful.

I also had this with both of my pregnancies. 24 weeks the first time, and started at 16 weeks the second time. I had to go off sick immediately as i was a nurse and they couldn't give me just 'sitting down' duties, which was the only thing comfortable for me. Lying in bed was just the worst!
I echo what Penny Farthing has said. Please listen to your body, and don't try and tough it out. Some women have problems for years afterward, even though for most women the pain goes away immediately or soon after birth. If you need to stop work early, do it! The baby isn't affected by SPD, so you are doing it for you, for your future.
As far as practical things go, the plastic bag on the car seat, to help with swivelling in and out, is a must. A belt really helped me the first time, but actually made the pain much worse 2nd time around, so I didn't wear it. Crutches were a great help too for about the last 10 weeks, as it really helps to take some of the weight through your arms.
We all know about keeping the knees together, but another thing to avoid is using your foot to move things. Most pregnant women will use their foot or leg to move things around to avoid bending, eg pushing a laundry basket rather than stooping and lifting it. This may not feel like it is doing much, but my physio told me that it puts a big strain on the pelvis and should never be done with SPD.
Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...
