For some reason the pc didn`t like that. I downloaded from the link but shortly afterwards the blue screen of death appeared. I rebooted and once Windows desktop appeared so did the blue screen of death. I managed to note the reference numbers this time assuming they mean something 0x00000005 (0x00000004, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x 8054BF89 )

Do you have access to another machine on which you can download and create discs etc?

Yes I have access to a friends computer down the road but he is out today so I can do nothing until tomorrow.

Do you need to back up any information? If so, you can use a Live CD in order to do this. After this you can attempt the reinstallation of XP.

Will supply you with the links later. Going for my siesta. Get a few blank CD-Rs ready for tomorrow.

Just to let everyone know who has offered help. I have now formatted my hard drive and will be using my old hard drive from my old machine (which has similar information and details on, such as Windows XP and other personal files ) to transfer to the new hard drive.

I have been contacted by someone locally through a friend of a friend who can help guide me through this process.
