How very rude of you! You contribute nothing to this thread and then start barking orders? Are you for real?
I hate this "Who has the longest..." arguments, but I think I contributed more to this forum than you.
I don't see where my post is rude and it was not intended to be. It was just a (in my eyes) friendly hint that the next time he has a problem with his email program he makes it clear to others what software he's using.Perhaps the next 'outlook' or 'outlook express' problem that pops up you would like to answer, rather than turn up late and troll?
Why should I? I don't have special knowledge of these programs. I could have helped to troubleshoot the OP's problem with a few telnet commands, but he seemed to have accepted the solutions from the other posters.
Ok, to contribute to this thread, most SMTP servers support authenticated SMTP if email isn't sent from within their network. Tiscali doesn't allow sending emails with other sender domains through their SMTP servers. So they should allow authenticated SMTP in case another ISP do the same. If SKY does the same and doesn't allow emails with a tiscali.co.uk email address then you couldn't send emails at all.
IF he uses Outlook, then this link might help.
But I think they just don't accept connections on port 25 from other networks. I just tried to telnet into smtp.tiscali.co.uk but the connection was closed immediately. Or they just have technical problems atm.0 -
I hate this "Who has the longest..." arguments,
If you had taken the time to **read** the thread you will note others have already checked the tiscali server with telnet (actually NC in my case but whatever floats your boat) and deduced that the issue was not client related at all, but permission related based on connecting IP.
Your previous posts I cannot comment on but in this case you came across rude and had clearly not bothered to read the thread properly. I'm sorry to be so direct, but that is pretty much the crux of it.0
