    Just a thought, I am currently staying at my inlaws house using their wireless router to connect to the internet ... would this make a difference ?

    It will if they are on a different ISP ....are they with Tiscali ?

    Yes almost definitely. They only allow outbound connections from their *own* customer IP ranges. If you try to send mail via their servers from some other ISP it will fail.
  • In laws are with Sky !!!!!

    How do i adjust my outlook to be used with the sky connection ?

    Do I need to set up another account in Outlook ?

    Nope, just setup the smtp server to be the sky smtp server.
    They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

    You would either need to set up another account with Sky for sending outbound email via smtp, or use a third party email address and provider like gmail or gmx (who allow you to use pop/imap/smtp regardless of the ISP). As a temp measure you could, subject to your inlaws permission, change you outbound settings and use their credentials: This may help:

    http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-email-portal-log/757-sky-email-setup-settings.html
    {sky setup appears to require full authentication rather than just the correct IP range and they use port 465 instead of 25}

    The key will be to enter the *different* details __ONLY__ for the SMTP (outbound) leaving the pop/imap intact. Not sure I would let a son/daughter in law do that on my connection!

    Personally I'd use the web based Tiscali server until you get home.
    Much easier.

    For your next problem make sure you know what software you are using. You keep confusing the people here and yourself. Outlook and Outlook Express are two completely different programs...

    How very rude of you! You contribute nothing to this thread and then start barking orders? Are you for real?

    There was no issue understanding what the issue was and the problem was generic enough for it *not* to be that important if it were Outlook Express, Outlook, Thunderbird, Evolution, Claws or whatever.

    Perhaps the next 'outlook' or 'outlook express' problem that pops up you would like to answer, rather than turn up late and troll?
