    Hi everyone,
My total is now up to £179.53 out of £200, alittle bit close for comfort I feel, hey-ho. I've started a health kick over the week end, so I need to stock up on lots of healthy stuff. I did the race for life today, so feel inspired to get fit and lose about half a stone (i also feel completely worn out and can hardly walk - no pain no gain, lol!!)
    2025 G/C Jan £264.82, Feb £249.68. Mar £372.66. Apr. £326.19. May £321.01. June £296.18 July £373.26. August £197.14 Nectar - Morrison’s - £ £ Boots - £3.63 Asda Rewards - £ Tesco - £
  • omg - never ever let me go shopping with dh ever again - I have just let myself blow my budget out of the window!!!

I had to do next week's shop on friday as I'm having new windows all week so didn't want to be out too much. On friday I was really chuffed that I'd only spent £23 of the £40 I'd allowed myself.

However saturday we had to pop into Mr T's as I had bought the wrong picnic chair for dd. Cue spending another £17!!!! Including £5 on Ice Cream!

After this disasterous trip we went into the village where I spent a further £7 at the butchers, £3 for lunch and £2 at the veg shop (although did get some delicious cherries).

so I've overspent by £12 and still need milk and fruit for the week:mad:

I am rather worried though - I start a full time PGCE in sept and dh will take over the running of the house - he doesn't really get the whole budgeting thing_pale_

Saturday spent £15.44 which was on flowers, bread, bacon, salad and some juice. Today has been a NSD :T but think we will need some milk tomorrow and some potatoes.

Have just done some chicken and mushroom soup as the mushrooms were looking rather ragged and needed using a.s.a.p.
If any one hasn’t tried making soup I would really recommend it as not only is it cheap, nutritious and filling but it also uses up any veg etc that you may have other wise binned. Obviously you cant throw stuff into the pot that is really manky and past it and expect it to turn out edible but its just a case of using some common sense. :D

have updated signature and got £88 left to last until 20th - 9 days could go either way this month :D or
    MARCH £62.38/250
  • Funnily enough I have some mushrooms in the fridge that are looking a little past their best plus some cooked chicken in the freezer so your soup sounds ideal. Recipe please!

Well done pepsi-kins on your Race for Life!

Katholicos....that's really interesting.... How do you cook with it after it has been dehydrated? Do you add water?

    Hi wssla,

Yes, it is just rehydrated in water. It's great if you use a slow cooker because all the dry ingredients can be put in the slow cooker, covered with lots of hot water and stock cubes and then turned on low for hours on end and everything rehydrates.

Also, if i am making a soup I just add in some dry ingredients and they rehydrate and take on the flavours of the soup as they so so. I use dehydrating veggies in a lot of different ways...another way i do it is boil up a big pan of say leeks, onions, carrots etc i then mash it or dice it really small and then dehydrate it then when i want a casserole base etc, i have it. The other great thing about it is that all the onions are peeled at one time, as are the carrots, potatoes etc. I especially like the convenience of it :)

Forgot to add, today was a nsd so i spent nothing on grocerys. In fact, the leftover chick peas form yesterdays chick pea curry (it was a big tin!) i turned into falafel burgers based on a recipe that a kind member provided on this thread yesterday. Thank you for that!!!)

I pulled some mixed salad leaves and rdish from the garden to accompany the pburgers and we had them in some warmed naan breads. Yummy!

Hope everyone has had a great weekend!

    Morning everyone,:)
Spent more than I would have liked to do this weekend, but bought wine and beer for b-bcue at DSIL and DH bought 3 for £10 bottles of wine think I may keep wine and beer seperate in future. As I have been very good grocery wise, total spend this weekend £33.46 £16.00 on alcohol hmmm..
that leaves 99p left to the 22nd July:eek::eek: not going to do it am I, or am I?, It could be a new challange 99p for 10 days!!:rotfl: don't usually buy much alcohol. May go through receipts and knock off any wine and beer bought this month. What do you think folks?, Is it cheating?:o
Went to allottment and picked loads of strawberries raspberries blackcurrants and redcurrants and rhubarb, I have frozen a lot but may make some strawberry jam and might have a go at some rhubarb wine, has anyone got a recipie and insructions for a novice wine maker, also I only have 6 screw top wine bottles which I begged from SIL bbcue will these be ok, and nothing to brew wine in, any suggestions for anything cheap as I don't want to spend a lot in case it all goes wrong!:rotfl:
I have done a meal plan for next week and should be able to keep to it. Will wait to see your replies wether or not to adjust spends don't want to spoil this months challange or seem to be cheating IYKWIM.
Anyway off to iron the uniforms so have a good day Savvyshe xx
Forgot to add Katholicos well done! on the store cupboard, you have inspired me, where did you get the dehdrating equipment {sorry if that's the wrong name} if you don't mind me asking, what a clever idea!:T

If you hadn't budgetted for it - and have the money elsewhere to pay for it without going into unwanted debt - then I wouldn't see it as cheating :)
