Morning all! Thanks so very much for the positive comments about my cupboards and pantry storage!freakyogre wrote: »Your cupboards look great, I try and do that with some things, but just don't have the space!! I am intrigued though, what kind of potato is in the jar labelled 'potatoes' and is that dried broccoli?!
Freakyogre (i'm sure you aren't anything like your username!)...the potatoes and broccoli and many other things in those jars are dehydrated so that i can use them 12 months from now or longer without them taking up any of my freezer space. I am fortunate enough to have a dehydrator and so when i buy veggies or fruit at a ludicrously cheap price or grow veggies that i have a glut of, they can then be dehydrated and kept for ages longer than they would ordinarily keep for while taking up a fraction of the original space.
That jar of potatoes is at least couple of kg of raw potatoes that have been dehydrated and the jar of brocolli is 2-3 large bags of frozen broccoli that were dehydrated from frozen!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Hippeechiq wrote: »Hi ilovetea. The Cheese & Lentil loaf freezes very well. The recipe I use I got off a member on here and it's absolutely delicious. It makes a 2lb Loaf and I slice it into 12 slices. Two slices is plenty, with something like cous cous/new potatoes and salad, although I have 3 cos I'm a bit of a piggy when it comes to this loaf
and I'm always too full afterwards
Anyway - here's the recipe in case you'd like to give it a go
I use 3 tspns Lazy Garlic & Oats (not tried it with breadcrumbs) Carrots (not parsnips) and Dried Mixed Herbs to taste as I'm not a fresh herb fan. Also, my oven takes an hour to cook to the "golden" stage, so you might want to check it from 45 minutes onwards as all ovens vary
I made the same recepie but it didnt hold together very well?? It seemed like quiche without the pastry??I did use breadcrumbs mabey oats are the ans? I will be looking for another lentil loaf recipe DD2 liked it but I was not sure if it had turned out right?
xxmum to Min Pops and Wiggy et al.

Have somehow managed to spend exactly £36 this weekend
However I now cannot buy or make anything more that will have to be frozen as my freezer space is so stuffed I could eat for about a month on just that and cupboard basics, that is if I can figure out how to get anything out of it again!0 -

xxfrom original recipe
Remove from oven and place a plate over the top, then a heavy weight or some tins on top of that to press for about 15mins –half an hour. This will make it easier/firmer to turn out and slice up.
Did you weight it down as above after it came out of the oven ralloctiger? If you did, then maybe breadcrumbs are the culprit.
I've never made any kind of 'loaf' before, so I've got nothing to compare it against I'm afraid. It is much firmer when it's cold, but it won't hold it's own weight IYKWIM, i.e. if you hold the edge of a slice to eat it, it will break in half. Carriebradshaw originally posted the recipe, so she'd have more idea but I've not ever seen her over on this thread, although if you venture over to the Red Lentil Thread you may get a response from her there
Sorry I can't be more help

I went to Morrisons yesterday, as I needed a few bits and I had a voucher for £5 off £40. I didn't think I needed enough to make up to £40, and didn't intend to buy unnecessarily just to make it up to that amount to get £5 off, but in the end my total was £43.52! However some of the items I got I don't count as groceries, (alcohol, eye drops and some antacid tablets) so after taking them and the £5 voucher off the total was £27.07.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs
