Can I please be put down for £250 this month thanks.
Have lurked for months on here now but really need to get myself sorted starting from now.
Not sure if this is dooable but then when I read what some people spend think i should be able to manage that easily!! We are 2 adults and 2 under 5s. Scottish schools broke up today so means need spare cash to entertain girls and as I am currently doing supply teaching means no work for next 8 weeks.

Hi, can I be put down for £200 for July, please. I went a fair bit over in June, but this is the amount I'm ultimately aiming for so I'm gonna keep it as that, rather than increase it.

This is for 2 adults, a teenager and a cat. It's still beyond me what people with tiny budgets actually eat ;)

    Thanks!

good evening I decide to try and declare my budget in this thread so that it gives me the incentive to stick to it, not that I have any alternative!! We always have to breath in at the end of the month. I have been menu planning for ages and then discovered here that I am among like minded people, people who will understand when I waffle on about meals and reductions and whoopsies recepies and the like they will understand. My DD1(14) is growing our veg and although she is doing a super job I am not sure how many runner beans we will get from 3 plants? and we will have to use the pumkin , one, at halloween. She also insisted on planting all her pots in the one tub so we will have a glut all at once. Sounds like a day cooking and freezing. lol.
My family are 3 teens , me and DH who is away alot. One DD is veggie she eats fish We have 2 dogs and 2 cats, the other animals the girls have to pay for out of their allowance. I include all cleaning and toiletries sometimes I can get a treat , usually clothes for me if they are on sale!!:T
I get paid the last thurs of the month so this month it is 5 weeks!!!!!! I did go over last week but had to stretch out the end of last month and had nothing in the cupboards left.
My weekly budget is £80 so this month £320.
    Shopping tomorrow.
    big hugs
    xx

hello all, for the first time, in june, i stayed within budget, so i'm on a bit of a high.... learning points for me were to keep the non spend days down, to eat out less, and (not so popular) have people round to dinner less...

went to tesco tonight, caught the yellow stickers at the right time, bought bag of potatoes, some ready prepared fresh fruit pots, some bread and some herbs, all at less than 12p each.

i made the (sorry forgot OP's name) mint icecream from here tonight, yummy - very zingy! i was shocked at how much 50g of mint is--- the bush is a little bare...

good luck at all for july

Hello to all new people on here nice to meet you and Good Luck to everyone for July.

Am already a week into this challenge as I started on the 23/6 and do 4 weeks each time. So far have spent £72.06 which seems an awful lot - its mainly been on salad stuff, fruit, fish and chicken.
Should be shopping tomorrow but got so much else to do that have postponed it until Friday now. Hopefully a NSD then tomorrow :)

DH comes with me on every shop and if I ask him to go back for sosmething you can guarantee he gets the dearest and he cant see the point of sticking to a list although I really try to. If he didnt come with me then the cost would be significantly less although he would moan cause there was no so and so in. :o

    Off to update signature now.

First time I've tried this please put me down for £175 for the July 2010 Grocery challenge, we have a family of 3 adults and 2 children so I think I might be pushing it! Good luck all

    July GC £235.20/:shocked: £175

Disaster! :oHowever I am finding we are all eating better, I don't need to worry about what to have for tea, life is easier, simpler and healthier. May need to relook at the budget, I thought I was pushing it as we were spending £355 a month before. Including nappies, toiletries, cleaning products and booze. I have just become a fan of Stardrops so that will help next months budget :)

    THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi everyone,

well have spent £13 (have rounded up) ,of my £220 budget, spent £4 at Mr S yesterday got two packs of the half price wipes and a sandwich (i know, but i was on the road all day!) and dh spent just under £9 tonight at Mr T on sugar, bread, muffins-wanted bread OR muffins, but he mistakenly got both so muffins squeezed into freezer lol, dog food and a bottle of white.

Im really pleased with myself, even though only a few days in, i havent touched my wages yet except for £30 for diesel, have just put some 'extra' money in a different account before pay day and have been using that for now, so quite pleased, might get through this month with something left in my account yet!

Should be a NSD tommorow as im working 10-6 so wont be shopping, am taking some mince out of the freezer tonight and dh is going to put together a spag bol/chilli in the sc, so no cooking for me tommorow, yay!

Am off work fri and saturday when i think i will go and do the following weeks proper shop, now i have my shifts for july i can plan around them.

So thats all from me for now, have a good week x

It's entirely up to individuals what they do/don't include, so definitely won't be seen as cheating by anyone on here.

I don't include toiletries or cleaning products (or pet food) either, as I have seperate budgets for these.

Totally agree with that. I am including all toiletries and cleaning products, but that's just the way I choose to do it :)

For me, this is all about supporting each other on trying to get to grips with what we spend. We are all trying to reduce our outgoings, however we choose to go about doing that is irrelevant as we all have our own personal budgets, and our own way of doing things - it's just great to know you're not alone in the struggle :)
