I just use a big saucepan and it's always worked fine.

Blackberries - I've never heard that before so I don't know. I just wash them REALLY well!

These items are fantastic, I think the packaging makes everything look really good.

Thanks SOOO much for this site! I have just had a quick look and have found so many ideas :) I'm looking at the stocking filler ideas right now and have fallen in love with the crazy crayons. I'd love to have a go at these using Christmassy shaped tins. Do you think it would work with silicone baking trays as I have some Christmas tree and snowman shaped ones.

Having been lurking about reading all the brilliant ideas already posted - can't wait to start the dry runs before getting hampers ready for this Christmas!!

I was wondering about storing Chocolate Truffles, do they need to be kept in the fridge and how long do they survive? Will it be longer if I use long life cream?

Same for fudge, any ideas on how to store and how long it will stay tasty?

Thanks again for all the brilliant ideas and recipes x

    Hi all

Thanks to everyone who's contributed for all the suggestions, after making christmas pud vodka last year (highly recommended cocktail - shot of vodka, shot of lemon juice, two shots apple juice, three/four basil leaves (trust me!) and a little bit of brown sugar, over ice, shake up in a cocktail shaker - YUM!) I fancy trying a few of the other flavoured vodkas. Anyone have any idea roughly how long they'll last - thinking of making them Nov time, is this too early/too late?

Fudge recipes also sound delicious, 7 years after working in a fudge shop I'm finally getting the taste for it back so may well give them a try this weekend!

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!

I have made some flavoured vodka today using crab apples - lets see how it turns out for Crab Apple Schnapps in 2 months time!

10-20 crab apples, nice pink ones halved, put in an airtight jar with 70cl of vodka.
Shake from time to time and check taste in 8-10 weeks before drinking
    Store in cool, dark place

    Hi guys,

I made one lot of chutney last yr which went down well, so wanting to do more this year. I've been saving jars, so should hopefully have enough. When are people going to start making?

That chilli jam looks amazing-does anyone know how long it would last?

I LOVE the Martha Stewarts website-got some lovely inspiration from it last yr but only did a couple of things. I want to do loads this yr.

I've started now and over the next couple of months will be making more!

Chilli jam probably lasts 12mths (in reality longer). I have some I made last autumn and it lasted fine. On my last jar now and will be making some more next month
