Gingerbread men - found a recipie in DDs book.

    100g / 4oz butter
    75g / 3oz dark muscavado sugar
    4 tablespoons golden syrup
    300g / 12oz plain flour
    1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
    2 teaspoon ground ginger

-Icing - 3 tablespoons icing sugar

    Method

    1. Sieve flour, bicarbonate of soda, ground ginger
    2. Preheat oven 325F, 170C, Gas 3
    3. Line baking tray - greaseproof paper
    4. Put butter, sugar, syrup in saucepan - low heat - stir till butter melted all mixed
    5. Stir in dry ingredients
    6. Mix to pastry style
    7. Roll thickness to apr 5mm
    8. Cut shapes out - you could make ginger snowmen for a change
    9. Bake 9 to 10 minutes- till golden

If using icing sugar, add small amount water - thick icing sugar, teaspoon more if runny icing
    Decorate

Can also before baking - make a hole in top - (chop stick, knitting needle), before cooking, - can hang up with ribbon

    xx

Woman's Weekly Nov 23rd has got lots of home made edibles to make, then how to gift wrap and what to give with them to make a larger gift - I bought it yesterday and thought it was very good.

I want to make some raspberry vodka for my lovely friend who is going away over Christmas. Do'oh, I'm a bit late :o

I've made her some Werthers vodka, I have the raspberries but from what I understand you have to leave it for 3 months? I wondered if this is essential or if there is a quicker way? Also, what quantities of raspberries/sugar do you tend to use per litre of vodka?

All help gratefully received! It's the first time I've tried this. We're having a homemade Christmas (turning out to be dearer than a bought one mind you!) and I'm panicking a bit over everything. :(

    Best wishes
    Lucy

Those homemade gifts sound lovely, - without being cheeky, i'd bash the toffee into smaller pieces easier for them to melt, and get the taste quicker.

  • This is probably not techincally "in advance" but I cant find the threads about gingerbread men... You know the perfect man ones :D
Can anyone help me out or give me a quick idea of when they can be done (never done them before so really no idea) and an easy recipe maybe? ;)
On the look out for some suitable cello bags to put them in too if anyone has a fav seller?

I've not made them but I remembered seeing the original thread earlier -

    Making money for Christmas 2012!
  • How long does skittles vodka have to mature before using please?

Is there still time for me to make it for christmas?

Any suggestions as to how many Skittles in a 18.7 cl wine bottle?

Soo many questions and I keep searching the forum but not finding what I'm looking for, lol!
