Its not perfect, but I have done (rephase - my darling mother!!!) I've downlaod the ones that are notecards/place cards, there a set of 4 on an A4 page and also "from the kitchen of" - theres 6 on a a4 page, just cut them out and you can write on them.

Looks bit posher than a plain piece of white paper, but still the homely mse touch!!

Thers quite a few designs, all free to print off, so there moght be one more suitable.

    xx

  • Hi all,

I'm making up 3 gift hampers this year, its my first time with a hamper, I usually just give boxes of little cakes I've made.

But this year I've got a little bit adventurous and decided I'm going to make seville orange marmalade using a can of oranges I bought from Lakeland and apple and blackberry cordial. Both my first time at making these but I can't wait to try it.

I'm also making choc orange fudge, hokey pokey (honeycomb nigella recipe), christmas choc baubles and I watched a Simon Rimmer video this morning to make whoopie pies that look really easy to make in the desert section of eatthechef.com

I'm keeping my eyes out for any other recipes on here though, there's loads of ideas.

Another very interested lurker here lol :)

I have taken a keen interest in making some nice yummy things for my mum and OH.

    So far am thinking:

Delia's Truffles but i will make brandy (as i have a big bottle in) and cover them in melted choc so they are easier to handle.
peppermint creams or that peppermint choc shard stuff
    some fudge
    vanilla shortbread
    gingernut cookies or gingerbread men
Also i have a tried and trusted recipe for mini spiced mince pie cakes which me and my mum go mad for, they are basically a spiced sponge mixture, you place a spoonful of mincemeat in a bun case then top with the mixture, they are lighter than a mince pie but very moreish(i have the recipe if anyone is interested).

I also had a recipe for homemade Baileys but i can't find it now although am looking as it was so easy but tastes really fresh plus can be as boozy as you want lol.

I would love to make either peaches in brandy or cherries as my mum loves these.

I think i will make like a mini indulgence hamper for my mum with christmas cake, mince pies, the mini mincemeat cakes and some of the sweets etc...

I will do some fresh shortbread/gingernuts for christmas day to nibble on plus they store really well.

Gingernut recipe i think i will use is the one featured on Britains best dish as it looked simple but the judges said it was fab.
  • Hi Guanna

i would love the receipe for the mini spiced cakes please they sound very yummy as does the Baileys!!!!

I have made baskets with chilli jam, pickled onions, marmalade, pots of gold, magnetic pegs, covered note pads and snowman soup. Hope they like them, I have brought "token gifts" but have made these baskets as well.

Here is the recipe for little mince pie cakes:

    Little mince pie cakes

    Ingredients

    175g self-raising flour
    100g light muscovado sugar
    1 tsp mixed spice
    175g softened butter
    3 eggs
    2 tbsp milk
    about 140g mincemeat
    icing sugar , for dusting

    Method

1.Heat oven to 190C/fan 170C/gas 5. Line 12 bun tins with paper cases. Put the flour, sugar, spice, butter, eggs and milk into a mixing bowl and beat with an electric hand whisk or wooden spoon for 2-3 mins, until the mix is light and fluffy.

2.Put a spoonful of cake mix in each case, then a rounded tsp of mincemeat. Cover the mincemeat with a spoonful of cake mix and smooth.

3.Bake for 15-18 mins until golden brown and firm. Dust with icing sugar and serve warm or cold

Here is the link for a picture of them

Can't find the baileys recipe :( god knows where that went to.

But i can say those cakes are really nice and whenever i serve them to people they always ask for the recipe and for some to take home lol.:D
  • I've got the ingredients in and I'm planning on making onion marmalade and chilli jam when I can get up off the sofa :) I bought some lovely little Christmas cellophane bags in the Lakeland sale last January. I thought they'd be great for homemade sweets. Any suggestions for easy recipes I could do with my 5 year old DS would be much appreciated. Thanks a million :)
