I want to make some shortbread and a variety of truffles. Can anyone advise when's the earliest I can make them? I really don't want to be in the kitchen making them the day before Christmas eve :eek:0

Not sure about the truffles but shortbread lasts ages (about 10 days if kept in tupperware). I am pretty sure that it freezes to, so can be taken out as and when you need it.

I think cinnamon balls are still available by the quater or pic n mixes. They might work."Live each day as if it were your last and garden as though you will live forever"

That sounds great! I was looking for another flavour to make for my Brother-in-law, I've already made toffee and skittles. I'll definitely try this one. Does it make the vodka totally black?Making money for Christmas 2012!0 -

This is lovely baileys recipe. Its very good with peppermint instead of vanilla too!
Thank you so much for that recipe. It sounds really easy and would make a lovely gift so I'm going to give it a bash. Here is the recipe for little mince pie cakes:
Little mince pie cakes
Ingredients
175g self-raising flour
100g light muscovado sugar
1 tsp mixed spice
175g softened butter
3 eggs
2 tbsp milk
about 140g mincemeat
icing sugar , for dusting
Method
1.Heat oven to 190C/fan 170C/gas 5. Line 12 bun tins with paper cases. Put the flour, sugar, spice, butter, eggs and milk into a mixing bowl and beat with an electric hand whisk or wooden spoon for 2-3 mins, until the mix is light and fluffy.
2.Put a spoonful of cake mix in each case, then a rounded tsp of mincemeat. Cover the mincemeat with a spoonful of cake mix and smooth.
3.Bake for 15-18 mins until golden brown and firm. Dust with icing sugar and serve warm or cold

Can't find the baileys recipegod knows where that went to.
But i can say those cakes are really nice and whenever i serve them to people they always ask for the recipe and for some to take home lol.:D
Thank you too for that recipe. I love the idea of these as an alternative to mince pies.
I also make apple and mincemeat pies with a dollop of stewed apple in as well and they are a less rich alternative to normal mince pies.
I've just finished making gingerbread syrup from a recipe on here and it is lush.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0
