Not made it yet but def will. Nigella notes it can be made about a month in advance, stored for 12 & once opened kept in fridge for 1 month ( off top of my head as not sat with said book )
Looked at a few other options too as FIL loves cheese so def a worthwhile pressie to make preserves & sloe gin for him.0 -
Hi there, sorry to jump onto this thread. I'm a lurker and gradually getting into this posting lark!
Your ideas sound absolutely gorgeous, I wanted to put my idea out there and see what you guys think.
I've already made 6 jars of crab apple jelly and 5 small jars of rosehip syrup....I was thinking of making up a 'treat breakfast tray' kinda thing....homemade jelly for toast, rosehip syrup for museli/porridge, some homemde soda bread (for toast!) and get some 'posh' tea bags and coffee sachets. Think I would wrap up all this in cellophane with a little tray (from the £1 shop).
As you can probably tell I'm completely skint! I'm a full time carer for hubby so treying to do something nice for as little money as possible, but with lots of love in it:o
Please can you give me some feedback? Would be muchly appriciated.0 -

Hello everyone,
After reading the whole thread, I'm determined to make some chutneys for Xmas, either as presents or to take to my Mum's house on Xmas day. I want to make them now as I'm due my first baby towards the end of Oct and want to get everything done now, whilst I have time on my hands. I found a lovely Christmas chutney on the Good Food website, so going to give that one a go as well as classic ones like apple and onion. My Mum loves beetroot so will try and beetroot and orange one.
Need to go shopping for some jars now! How does everyone decorate their jars? Are there any nice sticky labels that you can buy cheaply?0 -
