Nice colour for a front door???

After making numerous decorating decisions on our new home I'm stumped on choosing a colour for our front door. it's currently varnished a mahogany colour but I'd like to paint it something more modern. I quite like some of the Farrow & Ball colours. Has anyone used this paint? Is it worth the extra cost? Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

I am a Farrow and Ball Lover, and yes its normally worth it, but I would say more so on interior paint as the chalky finish is so lovely.
You can get farrow and ball copied in one of the machines, and its a colour match but the finish wont be the same. If like me you like non shiny paint, their exterior eggshell is not that shiny at all, but it wont last as long as gloss.
Painting my door in Farrow and Ball Theresas green, which is more LAry than I have ever gone for before, DH doesnt like it, but I think its quite cheerfull.
What colour do you have your eye on?

Personally I love a red front door. When I was a kid whenever I drew a house it always had a nice bright red door.

Have a look at this site.

I like strong colours - Dark blue (usually called Oxford Blue), bright red, bottle green or black in a rich gloss with nice shiny chrome or brass door furniture.

bright blue if you're thoughtful, green if you are cool as a cucumber, red if you are passionate, black if you are grown up, yellow if you are cheery!
