Sorry I too have been MIA.

I moved into a house on 30 June and since then have been trying to unpack - I am not as quick as mum would like me to be as I still have the office and my bedroom to sort out but I did managed to empty 35 packing boxes in a week:eek:

I have been trying to do the garden which has been very neglected so it is a case of trying to get it into some sort of order so that it can easily be controlled and doesnt turn into even more of a jungle. There is much to be done - I will be getting new windows soon thanks to my landlords (bank of mum & dad) and then we can start decorating inside too.

I am doing what I can to find a job but it is all very depressing as I seem to be wading through treacle and not getting anywhere fast:(

Not very happy about the same sex marriage thing in Scotland announced today. Knew they would do it. We are doomed!!!!

Can I please request you refrain from comments such as these. I find it highly offensive. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I have a lot of gay friends and would appreciate it if you could post elsewhere on the matter.

Sorry for hijacking the thread Mike!

You will get there Horace, it will just take time. Can you fill any gaps in transferable skills with a placement or voluntary work?

    As for peeps offending other peeps, always good to avoid opinions on;
    race
    sex
    age
    disability
    sexuality.

Technically we are only doomed if we get hit by a large meteor or that caldera goes off in Yellowstone Park.

I too have gay friends Psycho and was talking about this with one of them. They wanted to know if hetro couples would be allowed a civil partnership if they were allowed marriage!

Congrats Butti on the move and job and Horace on the move.

Fingers crossed that you get your move too Erme.

I know diaries can wander off topic but this one was set up to help people who fell foul of cowboy builders (I have been known to digress once or twice myself though, just once or twice), which reminds me - where is Mike? Butti is right - too quiet for too long. Mike? You okay?

I'd forgotten why we were here.

Check back under that pile of winter jumpers. He could be under there.

  • Hi all,

I spoke with a lot of you a while back (mostly to say thanks for giving me a DIY SOS worth the licence fee all by itself). But for the last several months I've been busy with real-life (and with the nerdy things I do when I'm not saving money). I've come back here a few times, but not bothered to log in...

    ...until today...

...and along with the mundane notifications I got a PM from a newbie MSEer with no posts. A PM that was sent way way back on the 3rd of October 2011. And it was from a lady called Sandra that saw one of my random posts and wanted to be put in touch with Mike, because she thought she had been ripped off by the same builder.

I've really dropped the ball on this. Not intentionally, but nevertheless, I have dropped the ball. I hope it isn't too late to pick that ball up and pass it along. :o

I've forwarded her PM to Mike (because she wanted me to forward her details to him). I'm not sure I can share her details with anyone else. I know this stuff can be kind of embarrassing and I remember how Mike was a bit shy about this. So I don't want to be "outing" someone that maybe doesn't want their details published. However, I'm going to drop her a link to this thread (and the other thread where you gave Mike so much awesome support).

Sandra, if you are reading this post, this isn't just where "Mike" is. It is where "Mike's Mob" are too. and they are pretty awesome people, so I hope you will talk to them, as well as Mike himself (when he gets back from wherever he has gone off to). (You can recognise the "Mike's Mob" MSE members, as they have that written in their forum signatures.)

Thanks for that Big Mac, Mobsters are still around to help where we can.

Can't believe Paul Bridle of Horsham has yet another victim :( Sandra, if that is you, don't be shy!

    Hi all

I'm fine. Hope you are too.

Well done Butti on the pass. I hope you find work quickly.

Mainly here to catch up and read the PM from Big Mac.

Will be back when I have a moment. Bit late now!
