There is a subscription service Janet. Just thinking about you yesterday. Applying for a job in your neck of the woods. Just thinking 'the rents will be horrific' but compared to Cambridge (£400-500 p. month for a double room) not too bad. Better get on with it.
Mike, could you not put a beach towel over the hot thing should you need to cool it down :rotfl:(You could watch that Maggie Thatcher film instead!)

I have an idea - first you ring a firm of solar panel people and explain you are The Mike off DIY SOS, and not just any old DIY SOS but the big one.
Then you say how good you think their product is (pausing as you do so to sign a few autographs and wave to yet another bus load of tourists) and you are so impressed (oops, more tourists) that you would like to give them free publicity.
Then you direct operations so the solar panels shield the plastic thing, sign a few signatures for the workers and sit back to enjoy the shade while your bathwater heats for free and the National Grid shovels over the pennies for all the energy you're giving them.
Don't forget to tip us the wink and we will email the solar panel people to say how impressed we are with the solar panels all over the plastic thing. And we will be, because then you can enjoy it.
Alternatively, grow palm trees.Miggy

Well, I know my ideas are brilliant but that's the first time anyone's gone as far as thinking one might work!Miggy

Sorry Poo's not feeling good. Also anyone else who's struggling. This "gorgeous" weather isn't gorgeous at all! I wish the weatherman would stop saying it's nice. I had to buy the biggest luck-off fan I could and am trying to position it where it will cool the 'plastic thing' down enough to sit in there.
Happy hols, Psycho. Send us pictures?
Nice idea about composting the roof, but if it rains it's going to play Old Harry with me guttering... The garden is nearly there (photos will be available at the usual price) and I think I might have green fingers. Like Kermit.
Hi Mike - plant sedum in the compost to secure the earth in place.(there was a sample at the Chelsea Flower Show) Even a tarpaulin would do as a temporary measure. How about open umbrellas held aloft with balloons! Will think some more:D

Using a sheet for now. Sort of 'maritime sails' thang going on. Good enough for now.
I think the summer's over now anyway...0 -
