Have watched through a few times so far and I don't think the window shot made it - hardly surprising, he wasn't happy about it was he :rotfl:

I was outside looking up, I know you guys had the better view, and yes, I have seen the photograph! :T:j:rotfl::j:T

    Decorum please, ladies.

You were a desperate s.o.b but you touched our stony hearts and melted them. What you did not know a year ago was the roll on effect that would happen when we all bonded together to help you and in doing so have helped us face up to our own trials and tribulations and deal with them. The end result is some wonderful friendships that have emerged. Icing on the cake I think.

Mulled wine I think tonight, still got some smoked salmon and ham, think its party picnic time. Might roll some salami around a gerkin or two. Lots of pickled onions. Yummy. janet:cool:

    attention
    its PARTY TIME
    see you at 8pm
pssstt....if you can't start drinking yet, shall I make a start for you or you might have too much to catch up with.

    It's been HUGE, hasn't it?

I was amazed at the Facebook, email, text and posts on here that kicked off at 8pm and continued well into the next day. The boys were getting messages from girls they don't even know who'd tracked them down somehow. (Not me of course, although I may have to have a word with the lady (assuming it was a lady) on here who described me as 'hot'. You're free for the beach party, I hope?)

    Hi,

I have followed both of Mike's diaries and have contacted him for advice in the past so I have followed this at every opportunity.

The actual programme had me in tears from the first five minutes.

It was so good to put faces to names because I kind of feel I know a lot of you just through the postings on the diary.

You all be so proud of yourselves and obviously Mike and his boys. You are all an inspiration and sheer proof in the power of positive thinking, proof that there are many many good people out here from all walks of life from every part of the UK and proof that people really do enjoy to help people without any financial gain.

The tradesmen involved would also restore anyone's doubt that all tradesmen are cowboys (I have personal experience of this and I find it extremely difficult to trust anyone doing work in my home, I was sued by a builder for his shoddy workmanship and I won, after representing myself in court!)

I even felt quite proud to be involved with this tremendous forum and associated projects/challenges and the 'friends' that I have made online.

    Long may it continue.

Mike and the boys, I wish you all the very best for 2011 and I hope you return to work as the great graphic designer you are (I am hoping to return to a creative career sometime this year, once I clear my debt! So I may be in touch sometime asking your professional advice again!). Whatever action you may be following about your a****ole of a builder, I hope you manage to achieve the conclusion of this whole chapter of your life and get to start the new one as soon as!

And may karma find and repay fully the cowboy builder that originally caused the problem, as the old saying goes. What goes around comes around - maybe someone will successfully rip him off and demoralise him in the same manner (or worse!!)

Yep, I wholeheartedly agree nuttyp - I have held the same opinion since a recommended builder screwed us over and I know that he will get his comeuppance. So there's two of them at the top of the Karma list at the beginning of 2011!!!

Happy New Year everyone. I hope you all achieve what you set out for this year and even get a bit more!!!

I guess your neighbours mean well but how many of them realised the state you were living in before this all happened. No , you and the boys must watch alone, record it, and watch it again all night. As you say, bit late to invite you now. In particular they wouldn't understand your emotions when you watch.

It's not a strange world Mike, it is a really wonderfull world where some people still exist that do things for the love of it and not the money. Enjoy every moment Mike, I raise my glass of mulled wine (third actually) to you and your lovely boys - this couldn't have happened to a nicer family.

Keep the front door locked incase people think you have open house tonight - perish the thought. Turn the lights out and draw the curtains = enjoy.

PS. Your viewing audience extends to Holland and all my friends and rellies who have all received emails in the last two days.

The neighbours were brilliant, apart from one who was complaining about the cost to licence payers. After it was explained that the WHOLE project cost less than an hour of Graham Norton's time, she shut up and has been much more friendly...

Sorry about the suspended parking though, everyone!

Absolutely agree about the money thing. But it's easier if you have enough. I'm working on that in 2011.

And the boys and I had quite a night on Thursday, and I'm delighted at the MANY comments here to how nice they are. I think so too. But it gave them a boost to hear it from so many people. Should give them a bit more self-esteem, something the menfolk in our family don't always have. Ahem.

SB* - I think Butti has just made you an offer you can't refuse! ;) Of course I'm here. Getting any laptop time at home with my parents, my 4 year old nephew and a 7 month old puppy was pretty impossible though! Was glad to get back to work for a rest!

Maty, thank god you got the crisps and dips, I'm bl**dy starving. My friend who was cooking me dinner is too hungover. Pah! And I've not been anywhere near any food shops since I got back!

My t-shirt has never been washed yet! I didn't want all the signatures to be washed away so instead it's been lounging at the bottom of the washing basket it with all the other stuff that needs hand washed!!!

A big hello to lots of familair faces! (Well ok, avi's and thread names!) Great to see you all back here for the party!

Mike - I'm terrified! Don't know about you! Excited - is that what that slightly nauseous feeling is?

Raising a glass to absent friends! And for the rest of us here, grab some of this

Fear and excitement feel about the same. Only different.
