Just a little rant.

Pre-ordered a PC game from them last month and it arrived today.

Hugely disapointed to find out that it is a Asian version of the game I wanted which says on it that it is illegal to sell it in North America and Europe!

I am hoping that they will send me a correct UK/European version of this game.

I noticed on the site you return items to Cyprus. There is no way I am paying to return this large box when it is their mistake!

Rant over! I will reply when they reply to my email.

They replied today saying that they only sell Asian versions of this game and that I bought it from an internation supplier so that is ok!

I paid the full uk rrp for an Asian version of this game!

    Very angry!!!!

Unfortunately this can happen with a number of CD Wow products, as they are registered in Hong Kong.
I received a R5 DVD of questionable quality but that's the risk you take for the price sometimes. I am pretty selective what I buy from them and unless it's an absolute bargain I'll go elsewhere e.g. Play, DVD Pacific etc.
I'm surprised that you paid full UK RRP for the game though as CD Wow usually are well below RRP.

But the game states it is illegal to ship it here?

It's the copyright owner in whichever Asian countries it is from that would need to take action against CD Wow. The same applies with DVD's and no doubt other commodities. They all turn a blind eye to grey or black global trade as it's probably too difficult to enforce. I think most of their efforts go towards anti-counterfeiting which is probably the most significant problem on their agenda.

Whenever I have had a problem with CD Wow goods, they have given me a return address in the UK and refunded postage. Might be worth another try. I always contact them by email.

  • Although with the new UK postal rates, it might cost a fortune to send it to a UK address too :(:(:( Perhaps you could email the game manufacturer if you get no joy from CDWOW? They might be able to swap your Asian copy for a UK one?
