    Regular Payments are the exception.

    What needs to happen is that recurring payments longer than (say) 2 months apart should not be allowed;

    That would certainly help what is clearly a reliance on forgetfulness.
    I'm usually pretty good at keeping on top of things like that but I guess I'm just annoyed with MBNA, for allowing the payment on a closed (well what I thought was closed) account. I know you've explained that's its law but I can't see any situation where that benefits a customer. The account is either closed or open - I can't help but get angry about this!

    I'm happy to pay the original payment in full but I think I'm going to try to get the charges reduced or even waived.
  • It is so easy to get into trouble. I have even tried to be "entangled" in a pay-system practically impossible to escape. The company had suddenly become invisible but not the payments.

    Hi,
    just got a credit card bill, on a credit card that has been closed for 2 years, saying I owe them £135 for AA membership. Called them and they said it was an automated renewal. I allegedly 'suspended' my cover for four years in 2006, thought I had cancelled, but it may have been suggested I suspend rather than close. I have since moved, but they have 'sent a number of renewal reminders' to my old address and even though there has been no reply they have charged me anyway. What is the best way to fight this? How can the default position be to charge me?

    The dept I need to call is only open 9-5 so I have to call them i the morning...

    HELP!!!

    Rich
  • Regular payment of the card is always seems beneficial in the terms of continuing its uses and avoid the late payments.
  • An unrecognised 'CARD PROTECTION' Charge has appeared on my (unused) MINT credit card. After 20mins I got through to MINT who said I must ring the CARD PROTECTION people to arrange a refund. I called and asked to cancel but was refused as the original recurring annual transaction was in my wife's name. I gave the 'phone to my wife who attempted to cancel the service but she was refused as the transaction date was 17th Oct and we were therefore outside the refund period. The original transaction was made by my wife on a Debenhams Card. I am the primary Card holder on the MINT card with an additional card for my wife. My wife's Debenhams card was replaced a few months ago following some fraudulent transactions.
    As all our cards are registered with this card protection company they have used an 'autopay' agreement to place the charge on my card. Surely this can't be right!
  • I'd share the same sentiments and experience with some of you guys, but glad i am in good relationship with my card company and we have a good relationship that any unfamiliar charges they would have me alerted right away. Good thing we can easily look at our accounts and transactions. Good luck to you guys.
  • Hi all. I am new here.
  • Thanks for the tip. I really can't stand all the little tips and tricks credit card companies do to try and get your last pound from our of your pocket.. Will share on..
