Tories are certainly getting stuck into our benefits system...

and dont forget, child maintenance is discounted as income,so a single parent can be getting a lot of money in child maintenance and still claim housing benefit and the like. Its crazy and immoral."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0

That's quite a recent thing though ? April this year that came in ? So single parents haven't exactly been coining it in for years..Its crazy and immoral.
That works both ways ! 1 in 4 absent dads don't pay anything at all.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Is this because they are not chased or because the mother either cannot or will not disclose who and where they are.0 -

Frank Field has just now turned the focus on absent dads. About time too.

I knew a chap who had both his legs amputated , did he moan and whinge? wallow in self pity? no he got off his !!!! and got re trained and spent his working life in the printing industry. He sadly passed away a cpl of years ago, he was in his 40,s but worked from the age of 18..
Some of the people I know are on IB should hang their heads in shame , but they don't they just continue to milk the system and take advantage of the good will of the tax paying public..
One of the few good things Nu -labour did was to help/promote jobs for the disabled which is fair play to them...
Motorbility is another benefit that needs sorting out.OK - how about you having your legs amputated? I would like to see what you would do. Idiot.
Why am I an idiot then boy? I don't get your point, I assume you are trying to make one or is it just abuse???0 -
So it is perfectly okay to milk the benefit system?
Did I say that?
Using the excuse that there are not enough jobs is weak, very weak. There are jobs, If you wanted a job right now, If you tried hard enough you would find 1.
Not good enough. You need a job to live on. Not pocket money.
Look at it from the taxpayers point of view. Why should we get up everyday, work 37-40hr weeks, only for those that choose not to work and to lay about all day to be given our money that we have worked hard for?
They do not choose, they are forced. The willing that is. Crap jobs that do not pay the bill does not cut it. Nor does 'moving up north'. How about sorting the unemployment problem where it is.
I go to work Monday and Tuesday just to pay for someone elses benefits. I only start earning to feed myself and my family on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
When you are unemployed, someone can say that about you.
Why is that fair? It's not but I get on with it and do it anyway.
Can you not see why I am and those that do contribute are slightly aggrieved that there are long serving diehard benefit scroungers living off money that we have earned but yet they are too lazy and bone idle to go and earn it themselves in order to support themselves.
Demonising the unemployed again. Dont mix the willing with the scroungers.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, It is 1 of life's biggest failings going through life being unable to support yourself if physically able.
True
Those that do not work will never see the frustrations of those that do. You would think benefit claimants would be grateful that there are people out there working and thus feeding them.
feeding them? on £50 a week with bills LOL

It's clear by some of the comments on here that some posters have no experience of disabilities.
As someone who has experience of disabilities IMO much of the problem is mind set.
Many people think they are too old to learn a new trade , can't be @rsed to train as they will be entitled to enough money on benefits or as now in a recession believe there are lack of oppotunities...Which in some industries there obviously are.0 -
And some are just plain too sick to work......in any job.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
