Tories are certainly getting stuck into our benefits system...

Just as there are millions of parents out there who can't find the childcare required for shift-work or people with chronic illnesses who'd give anything to be back in work again rather than sitting at home feeling worthless.
There are also employers out there who'd rather not employ those with children ( or even those that 'may' want to have them ). Employers who would rather not take a 'risk' on someone who is disabled, and employers who would rather pay £2 an hour under the table fruit picking to immigrants rather than minimum wages to locals who have rents and mortagages of circa £500 a month and families to feed. It cuts both ways in terms of jobs/employment.
.
Whose choice was it to have 5 Kids? Child support should STOP after the second child, the decision to have children is YOURS and not the states, if you havetoomany and cant afford it, TOUGH.
Why dont those "applying for 20 jobs a week" lower their expectations? I canapply for 20 company directorships a week, doesnt mean I will get the job does it?
If you have evidence if income tax fraud, send it to the authorities. I am sure they will be very interested in individuals paying less than the minimum wage and not paying income tax.
Lots of excuses, not much substance. I can NEVER begrudge individuals who are victims of the ongoing economic strife, especially those studying to better themselves. But I have to point out, why did they have to have so many kids? My wife and I have put it off for 4 years now, as it was nt the sensible option. Blaming the state for refusing to pay out due to bad lifestyle chioces isnt going to cut it IMHO.0 -
Erm, think Shakethedisease pointed out she receives no help in the way of any kind of benefits...so she can afford to have them.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Where are the jobs?
It might make your post sound less infantile if you can answer that question.
See my earlier posts re Cleaning, Canvassing, Packing etc etc.
I am not saying that there are jobs for all, just when offered to a claiment, he or she should not have the option of turning them down and going on claiming benefits.
What is the problem with that?0 -
Employment Minister Chris Grayling today announced a series of reforms to deliver a 21st century welfare system.
The new Work Programme will replace the current back to work schemes and provide a coherent package of support for people out of work, regardless of the barriers they face or the benefits they claim. The Government is inviting expressions of interest from the private, public and voluntary sectors to help deliver this.
The Government is committed to providing unconditional support for very sick and disabled people. But there are people claiming incapacity benefits who, with help, would be able to work.
From October, starting in Burnley and Aberdeen, Jobcentre Plus will ask people who are receiving incapacity benefits to attend a Work Capability Assessment. The rest of the country will follow over the next three years.
To ensure fewer very sick people will be asked to attend an assessment, new measures will be introduced to:- treat people waiting for or between courses of chemotherapy in the same way as those already receiving it
- extend the criteria for people with severe disability due to mental health conditions.
Well instead of lining em up & shooting them () as some would have, it appears the tough hard nut government are going to take 3 years to sort out those claiming Incapacity Benefit (or Income Support on the grounds of Incapacity).
They also are clearly looking to appear "sensitive" to some with long term health issues.
& an independent review is going to happen...
Re-reading the thread, I assume a lot of you will be disappointed. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I forgot to say, I expect the majority of people who fail the assessment will appeal - further delaying the whole process (& possibly blockading the tribunal service for a time).

all a good start... but i'm sure the Lib Dem cult on here will be a bit annoyed with you and disappointed that you say it's the Tories making decisions and they're just there for the moral support...

Not really. All I ask for is this:The Government is committed to providing unconditional support for very sick and disabled people. But there are people claiming incapacity benefits who, with help, would be able to work.
IE, stop their incapacity, as they are capable of work, but choose not to. That may not be picking spuds. But it will probably be menial. :rotfl:0 -
