Back to the original question, yes bring it to the retailers attention you might get the second item for the lower price. However, it's entirely up to them - they don't have to in any way. They could have five identical items and five different prices. It's perfectly valid and legal.

Think of what you're wearing now. If your top was bright pink with yellow spots, would you have both it?
Probably not.

If it was 6 sizes bigger, would you have bought it?
Again, probably not.

So they know some items will sell better than others. The items that won't sell as well get put on sale at a lower price. It even happens in other shops too.
