Back from dinner - had a really nice time - one of my friends couldn't stay to dinner as evil headmistress put a note up on the board today saying that all the reports had to be in tomorrow, when it had been next week before, so she had to go home to do them. The couple with the baby who were only going to stay to drinks ended up staying to eat, as the staff said that children were allowed to stay til 8 rather than 7. They also brought out free starters of garlic breaded mushrooms as they had a couple of portions left and weren't going to be having them on the menu any more.:T Got my free bottle of Cava, and had to drink most of it on my own as nobody was drinking - ended up giving about a glass worth to the table next to us, as I couldn't drink any more, as I'm not used to drinking, and didn't want to ruin the evening by feeling drunk.
Everyone had a nice time I think. Got a big bag of minstrels from one of my friends and a recipe book of salads that has some really nice ones in from my other friend. Must go and put all of my cards up, as I forgot.
The place was nice and tidy, for my one friend who came back for a hot chocolate and a piece of my cake, so the flying paid off.
Thank you for all of the well wishes today, in texts, and emails, and on here. It means a lot.

Bass lesson decluttered...teacher claims I am going to be capable of making a living playing very soon. Probably bull, but, hey....
Got DD2 to her high school induction evening thingy...wasn't sure about the school before - it is huge - but they are now a collegiate and say that each college are isolated in their own self contained building of 400 kids from 11 - 16, with a class size of 16 - 18, and their own head and deputy. I think my school detention room had more kids in it at any one time than that.
Her form tutor is a very pretty blonde who wears fifties style suits, glasses and shoes with 4 inch heels (the Dads in the room were very smiley) and she told the kids that because she is teaching them all day for the first three weeks for assessment - and the only time they are with someone else is when the prefects collect them from class and lead them to a safe collection zone at the end of the day - 'I'm really your school Mummy'.
DD2 has a full day there tomorrow. It seems promising.

Oooh - whilst I'm on the subject.
KS2 SATS results are in. She has 5Cs in Reading, Science, ICT, DT, RE, Geography, History, Music & Art, 4As in Speaking & Listening (how on earth did she get so high for listening? - it must have been the average of 6A for speaking and about 2B for listening!!!) and Maths, and 4C in PE. She's also the youngest and smallest in her class, with hypermobile joints that cause her quite a bit of pain, so she is often taped up and sent in looking like a battered child.
I was wondering whether anyone with expertise can say in which stream she is likely (not guaranteed, I know) to be placed - I'm a bit vague (there's a surprise to anyone that knows me) where it comes to this kind of thing. There will be three streams - express, complete with accelerated learning programme, the middle and those needing extra help. If there had been a stream labelled 'smart ar-es, comedians and outcasts', it would have been obvious where she was going, but as it is, I'm not sure because I'm too close to be unbiased.

Driving lesson tomorrow.
And a visit from the last Bloke. Which I'm not looking forward to.

When they go up to high school they do the cognitive ability tests (CATs) and band them on those. the SAT's are sometimes used for initial banding but as they are totally inaccurate they are usually ignored.

Morning campers, I'm here bright and early
- well maybe not bright but I'm here..lol The sun is out and I am sitting outside on the patio with the lappy waiting for The Chris Evans breakfast show to come on the radio - yep I know I'm sad!! I have just decluttered two of these
Am now considering having a shower
before it gets too hot
All is quiet on the bird front in the garden, shame as there was a lot of activity earlier on. I watched two crows fighting over something or other, one lost and flew off and the other one sat and ate whatever it was. I'm sure if it could smirk it would have done..lol
Have got to buy some citronella today as I want to make a homemade fly spray and I found a receipe on here using vinegar, citronella and water. So I thought I would give this a go as I can't find my Raid organic one anywhere. Oooh that reminds me I have to order some Borax from Carbolicsoap.com later today as I am down to my last two boxes
Dog fleeces going around in the machine, phoar were they smelly. Have lovely clean smelling ones on the settee and chairs now, although my DDog Scruffy is making them smell of him now, he's fast asleep on one of them, bless him.
