Certain natural justice though, the only people that get scammed are the ones that expect to get a lot of money by doing nothing.

Don't forget that people saved up the money they put into this. So, they worked hard in the first place. Most frauds/scams/swindles depend on the victims' trusting nature. I think it's wrong that some people here have been less than sympathetic.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
  • Hi Matt, Louise, Sieley & Lossclaim

Can any of you suggest how we can get together with a view to sharing legal costs in taking Brownw Mackenzie to court? It would be very expensive individually, with probably very little chance of obtaining our money back even if we "won" - but I wouldn't mind paying a small amount to seeing these crooks in court and exposing them for what they are.

  • I have only just discovered this thread and am wondering whether anyone has more info on Browne Mackenzie. I am also an 'investor' with them and have just discovered that they are no longer at their Basinghall St offices and the phone number I have for them is unavailable.

    Does anyone know anything?

What will you do if you manage to track them down? I don't see them compensating you for your loss.

  • I guess I'm still hopeful that there is no 'loss' to be compensated for. The last time I spoke to a broker (10 days ago) I was told they were putting in an application for planning permission imminently after having had initial contact with the local council. I have actually visited the offices of BMG and spoken to the brokers face to face and they always struck me as professional and knowledgeable. In the same visit to the City I also met a director from a reputable firm dealing in property who knew the Director of BMG and believed them to be above board.

I'd want to speak to the planners myself...

I think that you should regard getting anything back at all as a windfall, I am afraid.

Forget all that rubbish, what do the local planning dept have to say about PP being granted? Sounds like you have bought a piece of worthless land.
Did it not occur to you that if it was going to massively increase in value, the company would not have sold it?
