Seller asking for trouble. Interesting...

Thought what everybody knows it is an offence to drive a car without tax or MOT and this listing states no tax or test.
Nothing to think about really if the owner or anybody else without trade plates drives the car in the listing they are breaking the law.
What is so wrong with being a law abiding citizen and being upset when other people break the law.
Everybody complains about the state of the roads in this country and it is the road tax that pays in part for the roads upkeep so why is it so strange for someone to complain about a person who is not paying their way.
Firstly not quite; secondly I suspect every police force has better things to do than camp out on his doorstep for a few weeks to find out he simply posted a misleading advert.
Its also worth noting the criminal penalties for both of those charges if a small fine and certainly not worth any police time.0 -
Why would the seller bother mentioning whether or not the car is SORNed?...plus no mention of a SORN being filled in on the listing to declare the car off the road.
SORN isn't transferable, so that fact is of no interest to the new owner.
Very true....if a SORN declaration form has not been filled in for this car the owner has broken the law and can be fined for not correctly declaring the car as off road to the DVLA.
But just because it isn't mentioned in the listing doesn't mean a SORN declaration hasn't been made.
Why do you think the seller should list things that are totally irrelevant?0 -
Well I have just emailed the details of this listing to a friend of mine who is a policeman and he did not think it was a petty matter driving around with no MOT or road tax.
And just for the record driving without road tax or an MOT on a car is illegal and if you are driving illegally your car insurance is invalidated because of this it has nothing to do with the condition of the car.
if you look at the photo, and in particular the front wheels, it would seem to suggest it not been driven for a while as the wheels have sunk in to the gravel, also it seems he cant get out due to roadworks going on behind the car, mind you i would never by a car where the seller has described the car in just 16 words:eek:Take every day as it comes!!0 -
Looks like its SORN off until next feb anyway (cant believe the poster that has reported it to his mate!!) - oh, and it's not insured either if you'd like to report him for that part too!

Erm..... would the fact that the seller states "new car forces sale" not be seen that the seller now has a better car, which he has probably transferred the tax and insurance over to and is driving daily as opposed to this OLD one which he just want to get shot off not drive!!!! Surely he would rather be driving his NEW car daily rather than this old one????2008 WINS = Box of veg a week for a year £520

This is a ridiculous thread!
There are so many cars sold today without tax! And it is up to the new owner to make sure they get it taxed and MOT'd before its driven.
Seriously, if you have time to report every car on Ebay that may have been driven even though the owner has obviously bought a new car when the tax MOT has expired then you should be convicted of wasting police time.
The police as you say have cameras everywhere, and the DVLA send automatic fines if tax is not paid now, so why the hell are you worrying about it!0
