I guess for the purposes of keeping an email account alive a few quid on a dialup usb modem isn't too bad. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0

in an ideal world yup...
But the £15 user might only be on 2Mb and so their ability to downloads huge amounts is limited, so they generally get a pass if they use it heavily for a couple of months
But those on £30 probably get 8Mb+ and so they have more strict limits cause they can download more quicker. They can probably can download in a month what a 2Mb can download in a year!!
Can't believe that people paying £30 for Internet. I'm with Be* for a couple of years and pay £17.88 for their Unlimited package with up to 24MBit/s (I get ~18MBit/s)Bogof_Babe wrote: »So is there no provider in the market offering genuinely unlimited downloads, even at a high price?
I'd have thought that as there is so much online TV available these days many people might inadvertently fall into the excess usage trap.
See above. I'm a quite heavy user (last month ~300GB dl, ~100GB ul) and had never problems. To be on the safe side you could go for the Pro package for 4 quid more...You will get new email addresses from your new ISP, but you can carry on using your old Orange/Freeserve address alongside if you want ....no problem. Just acces via webmail, or set it up as an additional account in Outlook etc.
I wouldn't count on being able to use the old email address after you switched the ISP. As I wrote in an earlier post, would you expect that you can keep using the free gym after you moved out of your apartment block? Never use the free email address from your ISP as your main address, always use an independent provider or get your own domain.0 -
Not everyone is as lucky as us tronator, there are tons of people whose exchanges Be haven't unbundled.
I'm on Pro for £15/month (retention deal) and I really couldn't fault it. Full speed 24/7, 20+mbit sync down, 2.6mbit sync upstream.
I've only been monitoring usage since the 10th of this month and I'm at 324GB/17GB on my download box/media server/tv capture box. You can probably add in another 50-100GB down and a few GB up for the other machines here. I don't use P2P so my upload's never particularly high.
Be's users are split between gamers who like the network's low ping and good upstream bandwidth (but they're not massive downloaders) and people like me who are heavy-ish downloaders but don't game online. The network can handle a hammering, the ISP are honest and open about the way they do things and the prices are fantastic. I'd be happy to pay the full price for this package, but I couldn't knock back 15 quid a month either.
Very happy customer. I don't think I could go back to my old 3mbit connection. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0
